Supported Applications
The Omega OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A Series comprises battery-powered, stand-alone thermocouple temperature data loggers within the NOMAD® Family. These devices are designed for recording and analyzing temperature profiles in environments requiring multi-channel monitoring. The series supports real-time operation when connected to a PC via USB interface cable (OM-CP-JFC200), allowing users to monitor and record data simultaneously.
Applications include scenarios where programmable start times, automatic cold junction compensation, and nonvolatile solid-state memory are required for capturing up to 500,000 readings per channel. Data is retrieved via USB (115,200 baud) and analyzed using Windows® software that displays results in graphical or tabular formats.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 95% RH non-condensing. Measurement capabilities vary by thermocouple type, supporting the following ranges:
- Type J: -210 to 760°C (-346 to 1400°F)
- Type K: -260 to 1370°C (-436 to 2498°F)
- Type T: -260 to 400°C (-436 to 752°F)
- Type E: -260 to 980°C (-436 to 1796°F)
- Type R: -50 to 1760°C (-58 to 3200°F)
- Type S: -50 to 1760°C (-58 to 3200°F)
- Type B: 60 to 1820°C (140 to 3308°F)
- Type N: -260 to 1300°C (-436 to 2372°F)
Accuracy specifications are ±0.5°C for J, K, T, E, and N thermocouples (at uniform 20°C internal temperature) and ±2.0°C for R, S, and B thermocouples under the same conditions. The internal ambient channel offers an accuracy of ±0.5°C (0 to 50°C) or ±0.9°F (32 to 122°F). Resolution is 0.1°C for J, K, T, E, N types and 0.5°C for R, S, B types; the internal channel resolution is 0.05°C (0.09°F).
Recording intervals are selectable from 4/sec to 1/day via software. Time accuracy is ±1 min/month when the RS232C port is not in use.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options for calibration, display presence, and accessories:
- Housing & Materials: Black anodized aluminum enclosure. Dimensions are 68 H x 183 W x 26 mm D (2.7 x 7.24 x 1.02") for the OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A and 68 H x 183 W x 29 mm D (2.7 x 7.24 x 1.14") for the OM-CP-QUADTEMP2000.
- Power Supply: Powered by an included 9V lithium battery or external power via a universal 120/230 Vac 50/60 Hz AC adaptor (included). Battery life is typically 18 months for the OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A. For the OM-CP-QUADTEMP2000, typical battery life is 18 months with display off and 3 months with continuous display use.
- Connectivity: Female subminiature connectors for thermocouple inputs; USB interface (cable required) at 115,200 baud. Load resistance is 1000Ω, with 100Ω recommended.
- Memory & Data Format: Nonvolatile solid-state memory stores up to 500,000 readings per channel (individual channels can be disabled to increase memory). Data format includes date and time stamps in °C, °F, °K, or °R.
Available options include the OM-CP-JFC200 Windows software package with a 1.8 m (6') USB interface cable, OM-CP-BAT103 replacement 9V lithium battery, and an optional NIST calibration certificate. The KTSS-HH probe is sold separately.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between two primary model configurations:
- OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A: A 4-channel temperature data logger with one internal ambient channel. It does not include an LCD display.
- OM-CP-QUADTEMP2000: Includes all features of the OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A but adds an integrated LCD display for local viewing.
Both models are available with or without a NIST calibration certificate (indicated by the -CERT suffix). The series supports digital temperature calibration through software. Weights differ slightly: 430 g (15.2 oz) for the OM-CP-QUADTEMP-A and 420 g (14.8 oz) for the OM-CP-QUADTEMP2000.

Works but all thermocouple types must be the same
The datalogger and software is simple enough to use and the software for this datalogger is better than some of the other software omega provides for other data collection devices. It does exactly what is needed, log data.
The major disadvantage of the 4 channel data logger is that all of the channels must be the same thermocouple type. It does not state anywhere on the website, the specification sheet or the manual that all the thermocouple types must be the same. Only after purchase and looking a little deeper, I only found the only place that it was mentioned that all thermocouple types must be the same was in the quick start guide. Now I need to purchase new thermocouples so I can log data from all my thermocouples.
