Supported Applications
The Omega TX12 is a head-mounted temperature transmitter designed to connect to standard Pt100 resistance sensors. It converts linearized temperature measurements into a (4 to 20) mA signal for process monitoring and control systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports an input sensor range of (-200 to +850) °C (-328 to 1562°F). Measurement accuracy is specified as ±0.1°C ±0.05% of reading, adhering to BS EN 60751 (IEC 751) standard / JISC1604 linearization. The device operates within an ambient temperature range of (-40 to 85) °C and a storage temperature range of -50 to 90°C (-58 to 194°F). Humidity tolerance is rated at 10 to 90% RH non-condensing.
Performance characteristics include an update time of 500 mS, with a response time defined as 1 second to reach 90% of the final value. The transmitter requires a warm-up period of 1 minute to achieve full accuracy and typically starts up in 4 seconds from power application.
Configuration Options
The TX12 is configured as a two-wire, loop-powered device operating on (10 to 30) VDC. It features screw terminals for both sensor input and output connections. The unit includes user trim capabilities for zero and span adjustment via an integrated push button.
- Input Configuration: Supports Pt100 sensors with a resistance of 100 Ω @ 0°C in either 2-wire or 3-wire configurations. Maximum lead resistance is limited to 20 Ω per leg, with a lead resistance effect of 0.002 °C / Ω.
- Output Signal: Provides a (4 to 20) mA sink output. Output limits extend from Low 3.8 mA in low burnout conditions to High 21.5 mA in high burnout conditions.
- Burnout Selection: Programmable upscale or downscale burnout selection is available via the configuration menu.
- Fault Indication: A program LED provides visual indication of sensor faults and guides users through configuration menus.
Key Product Differences
The TX12 series includes specific ordering options for accessories and factory setup. The standard model is the TX12 RTD transmitter (100 Ω, Pt 0.00385). Available accessories include:
- TX2-100: 2-conductor shielded cables, 30 m (100').
- PSR-24S: Regulated power supply, 24 Vdc, 400 mA, screw terminal.
- PSR-24L: Regulated power supply, 24 Vdc, 400 mA, UL listed with stripped leads.
- PSR-24L-230: Regulated power supply, 24 Vdc, 400 mA, stripped leads, 230 Vac input, CE marked.
- TX-SCALED: Scaling charge for factory setup of range (requires specification of temperature range).
