Supported Applications
The Omega TC-(*)-NPT Series consists of rugged pipe plug thermocouple probes designed for vessel applications, pressurized chambers, and pipelines. These sensors provide temperature measurement in environments requiring a threaded mounting interface.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports process temperatures up to 650°C (1200°F). The transition joint and cable are rated for temperatures up to 480°C (900°F). Probes withstand pressures of 2500 psi at ambient temperatures. Accuracy meets or exceeds Special Limit of Error (SLE) per EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1.
Key Performance Specifications
- Process Temperature: To 650°C (1200°F)
- Cable/Transition Joint Temperature: To 480°C (900°F)
- Pressure Rating: 2500 psi at ambient temperatures
- Accuracy Class: Meets or exceeds Special Limit of Error (SLE) per EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1
Configuration Options
The TC-NPT series is configurable across multiple parameters to suit specific installation requirements. The probes feature a 304 Stainless Steel housing and sheath with an integrated stainless steel strain relief spring.
Sensor Elements & Junction Types
- Thermocouple Calibrations: Type J, K, T, or E
- Junction Configurations: Grounded (G), Exposed (E), or Ungrounded (U)
- Element Count: Single element or dual element configurations are available.
Mounting & Connections
- Process Threads: ¼ NPT or ⅛ NPT mounting threads
- Electrical Connection: Stripped leads standard; SMPW connectors optional.
- Lead Wire Construction: Stainless steel braid over fiberglass, stranded wire (20 AWG for ¼ NPT models; 24 AWG for ⅛ NPT models).
Customization & Options
Beyond standard configurations, the series supports special custom designs including different NPT threads, tip diameters, and tip lengths. A flush tip option is available upon consultation with engineering.
- SMPW Connectors: Optional for specific models.
- Lead Lengths: Standard length provided; additional price per 300 mm (12") increments applies for lengths over 2 m (80").
Key Product Differences
Variants within the TC-NPT series are distinguished by their calibration type, junction configuration, thread size, and element count. Model numbers follow the format TC-(*)-NPT-(**)-72, where (*) specifies the calibration (J, K, T, or E) and (**) specifies the junction type (G for Grounded, E for Exposed, U for Ungrounded).
Dual element probes are identified by a "DUAL" suffix in the model number. Models with optional SMPW connectors include an "SMP" designation. The series offers specific dimensional variations based on thread size: ¼ NPT models feature a 14 HEX (0.75") and a stainless steel strain relief spring of 64 mm (2.5"); ⅛ NPT models feature an 11 HEX (0.56") with a spring length of 60 mm (2.38"). Both thread sizes share a probe diameter of 9.6 Dia. (0.38).
