Supported Applications

The Omega DIN-100 Series consists of OMEGABUS® family data acquisition modules designed for industrial process monitoring, remote data logging, product testing, and PLC interfacing. These DIN rail mount digital transmitters convert analog input signals to digital data transmitted via RS485 output using the Modbus RTU protocol or ASCII data values.

Documented applications include:

  • Process monitoring
  • Remote data logging
  • Product testing
  • PLC interfacing

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) and a storage temperature range of -25 to 85°C (-13 to 185°F). Humidity ratings are specified as 0 to 95% noncondensing. The modules feature continuous self-calibration, programmable digital filtering, and provide up to 15-bit measurement resolution.

Performance specifications vary by input type:

  • Voltage Input: Ranges include +10 mV, +100 mV, +1V, +5V, +10V, and +100 Vdc. Accuracy is ±0.02% of FS max or ±0.04% of FS depending on the model.
  • Current Input: 4 to 20 mAdc with accuracy up to ±0.05% of FS max.
  • Thermocouple Input (J, K, T, E): Accuracy is ±1.0°C max; ranges include J: -200 to 760°C and K: -150 to 1250°C.
  • RTD/Thermistor Input: Supports .00385 (-200 to 850°C), .00392 (-200 to 600°C), and .00388 (-100 to 125°C) RTDs, plus a 225Ω thermistor (0 to 100°C).
  • Bridge Input: Supports +30 mV or +100 mV with excitation options of 5V or 10 Vdc.

The response time is listed as 8 conversions per second. The power supply requirement is regulated +5 Vdc, consuming a maximum of 0.75 W (DIN-150) or 2.0 W max for other models, with protection against power supply reversals.

Configuration Options

The DIN-100 Series offers extensive configuration options across sensor types and signal conditioning needs. Modules are housed in an ABS case with captive hardware and feature screw terminal plug connectors (supplied) for easy system expansion and reconfiguration on a standard DIN rail.

Input Types

  • Voltage Input (+10 mV to +100 Vdc)
  • Current Input (4 to 20 mAdc)
  • Thermocouple Inputs (Types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, C)
  • RTD/Thermistor Inputs (.00385, .00392, .00388 RTDs; 225Ω thermistor)
  • Bridge Input (with 5V or 10 Vdc excitation)
  • Frequency Input (1 Hz to 20 KHz)
  • Digital Input/Output

Communication & Configuration

All modules output RS485 data. The default communication mode is set to 300 baud, one start bit, eight data bits, one stop bit, no parity, and any address recognized. Setup information and calibration constants are stored in an EEPROM for remote configuration via the communications port.

Key Product Differences

The series includes specific model numbers tailored to distinct input requirements:

  • DIN-110 through DIN-115: Voltage inputs ranging from 10 mV to 100 V.
  • DIN-125: Current input (4 to 20 mA).
  • DIN-131 through DIN-138: Thermocouple inputs for types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, and C.
  • DIN-141 through DIN-145: RTD (.00385, .00392, .00388) and 225Ω thermistor inputs.
  • DIN-151 through DIN-154: Bridge inputs with selectable excitation voltages (5V or 10 Vdc).
  • DIN-161: Frequency input.
  • DIN-171 and DIN-172: Digital I/O modules providing six digital inputs or outputs respectively.

The series also includes accessories such as the RS232/485 Converter (DIN-191) and RS485 Repeater (DIN-192). Modules carry CE approval and a 1 YEAR WARRANTY. Note that DIN-100 modules are not intrinsically safe devices and should not be used in an explosive environment unless enclosed in approved explosion-proof housings.
