Supported Applications

The Omega TQ601 series consists of combination torque and thrust sensors designed for industrial environments. These heavy-duty cells measure torque and thrust simultaneously, providing separate outputs for each parameter to support dual-signal monitoring requirements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TQ601 series operates within an ambient temperature range of -46 to 107°C (-50 to 225°F), with a compensated temperature span of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F). The sensors feature all stainless steel construction and carry an IP65 enclosure rating. Performance specifications differ between the two measurement elements:

  • Torque Cell Linearity: ±0.2% FSO
  • Thrust Cell Linearity: ±0.15% FSO
  • Hysteresis (Both): ±0.10% FSO
  • Repeatability (Both): ±0.05% FSO
  • Safe Overload: 150% of capacity for the torque cell; 200% of capacity for the thrust cell.
  • Ultimate Overload: 300% of capacity for both cells.

Thermal effects are specified as ±0.005% FSO/°F (Zero) and ±0.005% rdg/°F (Span) for the torque cell, while the thrust cell lists 0.0025% FSO/°F (Zero) and 0.005% rdg/°F (Span).

Configuration Options

The series supports specific measurement ranges configured via model number selection, with metric ranges available upon consultation with Engineering.

  • Torque Ranges: 0 to 15 in-lb and 0 to 100 in-lb (Imperial); Metric options available.
  • Thrust Ranges: 0 to 15 lb and 0 to 50 lb (Imperial).
  • Output Signal: 2 mV/V for both torque and thrust cells.
  • Excitation Voltage: 10 Vdc, 15V maximum for the torque cell; 10 Vac/dc, 15V maximum for the thrust cell.
  • Electrical Connection: Two 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded PVC cables with strain relief.

The sensors include a stainless steel housing with specific dimensional features: 51 mm (2.0 in) maximum diameter, fixture mounting hole of 7/16-20 UNF-2B x 0.50 DP depth, and torque application points defined as 0.219 dia. x 0.50 DP with two holes equally spaced on a 1.687 dia. BC.

Key Product Differences

The TQ601 series is ordered using the format TQ601-<RANGE>, where the range denotes the torque and thrust capacities (e.g., TQ601-15/15 or TQ601-100/50). The wiring configuration distinguishes between the two outputs: Torque output uses Green (+) and White (-), while Load (Thrust) output also utilizes Green (+) and White (-); Input connections are Black (-) for both, with Red (+) input shared. Each unit comes complete with a 5-point calibration.
