Supported Applications

The Omega DPG5500 series comprises battery-powered digital pressure gauges designed for measuring gauge, absolute, and vacuum pressures. These compact units feature a full 4-digit display with Min/Max capture functions and a one-touch zero capability. The series is engineered for general process monitoring where portable or benchtop measurement of liquids and gases is required.

Key functional capabilities include:

• Pressure Measurement Types: Gauge (psig), Absolute (psia, torr abs), Vacuum (inHg vac, inH2Og), and Compound ranges (-30.0 inHg vac to positive psig).
• Data Capture: Min/Max reading retention with a clear function.
• Battery Operation: Powered by 2 'AA' alkaline batteries, featuring an auto shut-off after approximately 5 minutes for battery conservation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DPG5500 series delivers a nominal display update rate of 3 readings per second. Accuracy is specified as ±0.25% FS (full scale) ±1 least significant digit, with repeatability and hysteresis also rated at ±0.25% of full scale ±1 least significant digit.

Performance limits are defined by the following environmental parameters:

• Ambient Operating Temperature: -4 to 185°F (-20 to 85°C).
• Storage Temperature: -40 to 203°F (-40 to 95°C).
• Burst Pressure: 4 X sensor pressure rating or 10,000 psi, whichever is less.

The wetted materials are specified as 316L stainless steel. The series supports a wide range of measurement spans, from low differential pressures (e.g., 0-85.0 inches of water) to high-pressure applications up to 0-5000 psig.

Configuration Options

The DPG5500 series offers extensive configuration options across pressure ranges, units, and housing styles. The standard process connection is a ¼ MNPT fitting. Models are available with selectable engineering units for models manufactured after 12-23-2012.

Pressure Ranges & Units

The series supports various default ranges including:

• Gauge Pressure (psig): 0 to 3.000, 5.000, 15.00, 30.00, 60.00, 100.0, 200.0, 300.0, 500.0, 1000, 2000, and up to 5000 psig.
• Absolute Pressure: Ranges such as 15.00-0 psi absolute, 760.0-0 torr absolute, and 30.00-0 psi absolute.
• Vacuum & Compound: Options include 0 to 30.0 inHg vac, -30.0 inHg vac to 15.00 psig, and compound ranges up to -30.0 inHg vac to 200.0 psig.
• Metric & Water Column: Ranges available in bar (e.g., 0-7.000 barg) and inches of water (e.g., 0-140.0 inH2Og).

Selectable units for compatible models include psig, inHg, inH2O, oz/in², g/cm², mmHg, torr, mbar, cmH2O, mmH2O, ftH2O, kPa, MPa, bar, kg/cm², and atm.

Housing & Display Options

• Standard Housing: Extruded aluminum case with light gray epoxy powder coating, black ABS/polycarbonate bezel, front and rear gaskets, and a black/gold label. Dimensions are 86 W x 73 H x 42 mm D (3.38 x 2.88 x 1.65").
• NEMA 4X Enclosure: Available as an option for the series, providing IP66 protection.
• Backlit Display: The DPG5600B model variant offers a backlit display (specified by adding 'B' to the base model number).
• Panel Mount: A panel mount option is available by adding "-PM" to the model number. This cannot be field installed and must be ordered with the unit.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard aluminum housings (DPG5500) and backlit display variants (DPG5600). The DPG3500/DPG3600 family shares similar functionality but utilizes an ABS/polycarbonate NEMA 4X (IP66) case with different dimensions (89 W x 76 H x 51 mm D).

Model numbering follows the format DPG-, where the series indicates the housing type and range suffix denotes pressure span. For example, DPG5500B-60G represents a standard aluminum gauge with backlighting in a 0 to 60.00 psig range.

Important operational notes include:

• Oxygen Service Restriction: Gauges must not be used for oxygen service due to the risk of silicone oil inside the sensor reacting with oxygen upon rupture.
• Vacuum Caution: Do not apply vacuum to non-vacuum gauges or hydraulic vacuum to any gauge to avoid permanent sensor damage.
