Supported Applications
The Omega SV4000A Series consists of internally piloted, 2-way solenoid valves designed for hot water and steam applications. These pilot-operated units are available in normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) configurations to manage flow control in thermal systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports a process temperature range of 0 to 182°C (32 to 360°F). For PTFE O-ring seals, the maximum process temperature is specified as 60 to 182°C (140 to 360°F), while ambient operating temperatures are coil dependent. The valves operate with a minimum pressure of 7 psi and a Maximum Operating Pressure Differential (M.O.P.D.) of 150 psi for both AC and DC coils.
Performance characteristics include an opening time of approximately 100 to 200 ms and a closing time of approximately 200 to 1200 ms. The valves support a cycling rate of approximately 60 cpm with a continuous (100%) duty cycle.
Pressure Ratings by Configuration
- Minimum Pressure: 7 psi
- M.O.P.D. AC Coils: 150 psi
- M.O.P.D. DC Coils: 150 psi
Configuration Options
The SV4000A Series offers configurable options across body materials, port sizes, and electrical specifications to accommodate diverse installation requirements.
Body Materials & Wetted Parts
- Brass Construction: Body in Brass with PTFE seals; available for models SV4002A through SV4004A (NC and NO).
- 316 Stainless Steel Construction: Body in 316 SS with PTFE seals; available as -SS variants.
- Internal Components: Armature tube, fixed core, plunger, and spring utilize Stainless steel 300 or 400 series. Shading rings are Copper (Brass models) or Gold-Plated Copper (Stainless Steel models).
Sizes & Flow Characteristics
Process connections feature NPT threads in three sizes with corresponding Cv flow factors:
- ½" NPT: 7/16" orifice; Cv 3.4 (Brass), Cv 2.4 (SS)
- ¾" NPT: 3/4" orifice; Cv 6.2 (Brass), Cv 8.0 (SS)
- 1" NPT: 1" orifice; Cv 11.0 (Brass, noted as "11.0 8" in source table for Brass), Cv 9.0 (SS)
Electrical & Coil Options
The series supports AC and DC power supplies with a voltage tolerance of ±10% AC or ±5% DC.
- Standard Coils: 8 W AC coils (Class H) available in 24 Vac/60 Hz, 115 Vac/60 Hz, and 220 Vac/60 Hz. Molding material is Black Polyphenylenesulphide.
- Optional Coils: 14 W DC coils (Class H) available in 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc. Molding material is Black Epoxy Resin with NEMA 4 enclosure rating for all 14 W coils.
Accessories & Maintenance
A strain-relief connector is supplied with each unit. Additional accessories include the SV-CC (½" conduit connector) and SV-CGC (replacement cable grip connector). Repair kits are available for specific model ranges: VRK-4012, VRK-4034, VRK-4002SS, and VRK-4034SS.
Key Product Differences
The SV4000A Series distinguishes variants by body material (Brass vs. 316 SS), flow configuration (Normally Closed vs. Normally Open), and port size (½", ¾", or 1"). Brass models are available in both NC and NO configurations, while the documented stainless steel ordering table lists normally closed (-SS) models.
Coil variations affect physical dimensions; for example, on SV4002A units, an 8 W coil measures D: 1 3/16", E: 1 21/32", F: 2 1/8", whereas a 14 W coil measures D: 2 1/16", E: 2 5/32", F: 2 5/8". Mounting position is specified as any, preferably with the solenoid system upright.
Standard equipment includes NEMA 4 electrical enclosures for all units and is not intended for installation in hazardous environments.
