Supported Applications
The Omega KMTSS/JMTSS series comprises transition junction style thermocouple probes featuring high-temperature molded construction. Designed for temperature measurement, these lead wire probes are engineered for applications requiring operation up to 260°C (500°F) at the molded transition junction.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series meets or exceeds Special Limits of Error (SLE) and EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1. The probes are rated for a process temperature where the molded transition junction is limited to 260°C (500°F). Standard configurations include 40" Teflon®-Coated Lead Wires for standard dimensions or 1 m Teflon®-Coated Lead Wires for metric dimensions. The probes are manufactured in the USA, and OMEGACAL Factory CAL is available.
Configuration Options
The series supports a broad configuration envelope across thermocouple types, sheath materials, junction styles, and dimensional standards (Standard inches or Metric mm).
- Thermocouple Types: Type J (Iron-Constantan), Type K (CHROMEGA® ALOMEGA®), Type E (CHROMEGA® Constantan), Type T (Copper-Constantan), and Type N.
- Junction Styles: Grounded, Ungrounded, or Exposed. Specify junction type as G (grounded), U (ungrounded), or E (exposed).
- Sheath Materials: 304SS, 310SS, 316SS, 321SS, Inconel N, and Super OMEGACLAD® XL. To order with specific stainless steel sheaths, change 'SS' in the model number to '304SS', '310SS', '316SS', or '321SS'. For Type N probes, Inconel Sheathing is available.
- Dimensions: Standard dimensions offer diameters from 0.010" to 0.125" with overall lengths of 6" and 12" (with other lengths available). Metric dimensions provide sheath diameters from 0.25 mm to 3.0 mm with overall lengths of 150 mm and 300 mm.
- Transition Joints: Probes with 0.040" diameter and larger are supplied with molded transition joints; smaller-size probes use stainless steel transition joints. All Type N probes are supplied with stainless steel transition joints.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between Standard (inch) and Metric (mm) dimensioning systems, reflected in the model number structure. The standard ordering format is JMTSS---. For Super OMEGACLAD® XL material, change 'SS' to 'XL' in the model designation and add $3 to the price. Type N probes are available with Inconel sheathing; contact Sales for specific model numbers.
Lengths between 2" to 12", or lengths over 24", require consultation with the Sales Department. The series includes variants such as KMTIN, JMTSS, EMTSS, TMTSS, and NMTXL configurations depending on thermocouple type, sheath material (Inconel vs. Stainless Steel), and calibration requirements.
