Supported Applications

The Omega Pro/Temp bi-metal thermometer series (Models A, R, B, S, X, XR, V, and VR) is designed for industrial temperature measurement. These hermetically sealed instruments feature stainless steel construction with a durable dial face suitable for general process monitoring.

Specific configurations address distinct operational environments:

• Silicone-filled thermometers (add suffix '-SF' to model number) are offered for severe industrial applications involving vibration.
• All silicone-filled versions include a durable polycarbonate crystal.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports an extensive range of temperature scales in Fahrenheit, Celsius, and dual-range formats. Measurement ranges span from -100 to 100°F (-50 to 200°C) up to high-temperature limits such as 200 to 1000°F (100 to 500°C). Specific range availability varies by model family, with some scales restricted to X/XR or V/VR models.

Key performance and construction parameters include:

A cautionary note applies to silicone-filled variants: ranges over 500°F are not recommended.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across multiple dimensions including dial size, temperature range, stem length, and mounting orientation. The standard process connection is a 1/2 NPT Mounting; optional connections include 1/4 NPT or 3/4 NPT Thread.

Stem Lengths

The series supports stem lengths from a minimum of 4" up to 36". Longer insertion depths are available for specific applications requiring deeper process penetration.

Mounting Positions

Beyond the standard bottom (6 o'clock) orientation, special stem positions are offered:

• 'LEFT' (9 o'clock)
• 'TOP' (12 o'clock)
• 'RIGHT' (3 o'clock)

Model Families and Dimensions

Different model codes correspond to specific head dimensions:

• Models A/R: 3.0 in diameter, 3.0 in height.
• Models B/S: 5.0 in diameter, 5.0 in height.
• Model VR: 5.0 in diameter, 6.00 in height.
• Model XR: 3.0 in diameter, 4.00 in height.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard bi-metal thermometers and silicone-filled versions intended for vibration-prone environments. The '-SF' suffix denotes the silicone-filled configuration which includes a polycarbonate crystal, whereas standard models utilize different dial face materials.

Dual-range scales (e.g., -50 to 100°C (-50 to 210°F)) are available in specific model families such as X and XR. Certain high-temperature ranges (e.g., 300 to 400°F) or low-temperature spans may be restricted to particular models like V/VR, while others are exclusive to the A/R family.

Ordering follows a structured format: Model - Range - Stem Length - Mounting. For example, 'B-0-300F-9-1/2' indicates a 5-inch dial (Model B), 0 to 300°F range, 9" stem length, and 1/2 NPT mounting.
