Supported Applications

The Omega PRTXI series is an industrial RTD temperature probe built for process temperature measurement in manufacturing and process environments. Each transmitter pairs a Pt100 Class A sensing element with a 316L stainless steel probe and housing, making it suitable for direct immersion and insertion measurement in tanks, vessels, piping, and industrial equipment.

Because every unit is IO-Link capable, the series fits applications that call for bi-directional, point-to-point communication of process data and sensor configuration. The scalable 4 to 20 mA analog output and an integrated PNP switch let the same probe serve both continuous analog monitoring and simple on/off switching, so the PRTXI can be integrated into new digital installations or into existing analog control loops.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PRTXI series measures process temperatures over a range of -50 to 200 °C (-58 to 392 °F) using a Pt100 Class A RTD element. Over the full measuring range the accuracy is ± 0.55 °C (0.99°F). When the output is scaled, the accuracy is ± [0.215 °C (0.39 °F) + 0.134 % x (Measuring Span)].

Response time depends on probe diameter: T90 = 2 sec for the 1/8" and 3/16" diameters, and 4 sec for the 1/4" diameter, measured in water. The electronics operate across an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F) and at relative humidity below 95%.

Configuration Options

Every PRTXI model shares the same Pt100 Class A sensing element, 316L stainless steel wetted and housing materials, and the combined IO-Link, PNP switch, and 4 to 20 mA output set. Models differ along four ordering dimensions, so a specific configuration can be matched to the mounting point and thermal response a process requires.

Process Connection

Tapered NPT threads are offered in 1/4" NPT, 3/8" NPT, and 1/2" NPT, while cylindrical parallel threads are offered as G 1/4", G 3/8", and G 1/2".

Probe Diameter and Response

Diameters of 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" are available. The smaller 1/8" and 3/16" diameters reach T90 = 2 sec, whereas the 1/4" diameter reaches T90 = 4 sec, allowing the choice between faster response and a more robust stem.

Probe Length

Insertion lengths of 2", 3", 4", 6", and 12" cover shallow and deep installations, and custom lengths are available upon request.

Key Product Differences

Each catalog number encodes, in order, the process connection, the probe diameter, the probe length, and the output. For example, PRTXI-1/4N-1/8-6-IO is an RTD Temperature Transmitter with a 1/4" NPT process connection, a 1/8" probe diameter, and a 6" probe length.

Combining the six process connections, three probe diameters, and five standard lengths yields the full orderable lineup. Representative configurations include:
