Supported Applications
The Omega PX709 Series submersible pressure transducers are designed for precision level, depth, or groundwater measurements in fresh water or liquids compatible with 316 SS. The series supports applications including level monitoring, depth measurement, surface water monitoring, tank level, well water depth, waste water applications, dewatering installations, and construction bypass.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PX709GW Series features a precision micromachined silicon sensor with 5-point NIST traceable calibration. Measurement ranges span from 10 inH2O to 1000 psi, available as Gage pressure (vented through the cable), Sealed gage pressure, or Absolute pressure. Standard accuracy is ±0.20% BSL; a High Accuracy option provides ±0.08% BSL.
Performance specifications include:
- Hysteresis and Repeatability: ±0.05% full scale maximum
- Response Time: 500 usec, 0 to 90% step change
- Bandwidth: DC to 1 kHz typical
- Operating Temperature (Process): -18 to 79°C (0 to 175°F) with no solid freeze
- Compensated Temperature (Ambient): -1 to 88°C (30 to 190°F)
- Shock Rating: 50 g, 11 ms, half-sine horizontal and vertical axis
- Vibration Rating: ±20 g
The transducer body is constructed of 316L stainless steel with wetted parts including the diaphragm made from 316L stainless steel. The cable features a polyurethane jacket with double Kevlar® reinforcing stringers, fused to the case via a molded Neoprene boot rated to 610 m (2000') depth.
Configuration Options
The series offers four output signal options: mV/V, 0-5 Vdc, 0-10 Vdc, and 4-20 mA. Power supply requirements vary by output type:
- mV/V and Voltage Outputs (0-5/10 Vdc): 5 to 10 Vdc excitation voltage.
- Current Output (4-20 mA): 10 to 30 Vdc power supply; minimum load resistance of 1000 Ω @ 50 Vdc before surge protection.
Cable lengths are configurable, with standard fast-delivery options ranging from 3 m (10') up to 91.4 m (300'). Custom cable lengths beyond the standard list require factory lead times. The electrical connection utilizes a fused polyurethane cable; conduit mounting is available via an NPT male fitting on PX709C models.
Optional features include:
- Lightning Protection: Integral lightning surge protection to IEC-61000-4-5 (Level 4) for amplified models (PX709LGW).
- Drying Tube Assembly: Clear tube filled with indicating desiccant that attaches directly to the cable vent tube. Desiccant changes color from blue (dry) to pink (saturated) and must be periodically renewed.
- Termination Enclosures: NEMA 4X clear front enclosures available in three configurations: without surge protection, with one module for 4-20 mA models, or with two modules for voltage output sensors and 4-20 mA with Shunt Cal option.
The series is RoHS compliant and CE Compliant (meets EN 61326-1:2006 for industrial locations when certified with 91 m / 300' cable).
Key Product Differences
Differences within the PX709 Series are defined by pressure type, output signal, accuracy class, and lightning protection status:
- Pressure Type Codes: G (Gage), SG (Sealed gage), A (Absolute).
- Output Signal Codes: V (mV/V), 5V (0-5 Vdc), 10V (0-10 Vdc), I (4 to 20 mA).
- Accuracy Options: Standard accuracy is ±0.20% BSL; the "HH" option code designates High Accuracy at ±0.08% BSL.
- Lightning Protection Models: Amplified models with integral surge protection are designated by the prefix PX709LGW (e.g., PX709LGW-10WG5V).
Note: Drying tubes are not required for sealed gage or absolute pressure models as the vent tube is sealed at the sensor. These products are not designed for use in, and should not be used for, human applications.
