Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 160F Pitot Tubes are designed for the environmental testing field to measure air or gas stream flow velocity. The straight stainless steel design facilitates insertion into ducts through grills and pressure taps, aiding positioning in hard-to-reach locations where hook-style pitot tubes may not allow access.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures air velocity or airflow within a range of 0 to 9000 FPM (45 M/s) with an accuracy of ±2% FS. The wetted material is 304 SS, and the process temperature limit is 1500°F (815°C). For optimal performance, readings should be taken in a smooth, straight duct section a minimum of 10-15 duct diameters upstream and 5 diameters downstream from the pitot tube. The K-Factor for velocity calculation is 0.81.

Configuration Options

The Series 160F offers multiple probe lengths to accommodate various installation depths, with permanently etched insertion depth graduations on the sensing tube. Available configurations include:

  • Probe Lengths: Models are available in 18" (457.2 mm), 24", 36", 48", and 60" lengths.
  • Dimensions: The probe diameter is 1/4" [6.35] with a process connection of 1/4" OD. Overall length varies by model, ranging from 19-9/32 (489.56) for the base unit to 61-9/32 (1556.54) for the longest variant.
  • Accessories: Optional accessories include a flange mounting plate with 1/2" female NPT, split flanges, mounting glands, step drills, and carrying cases for pitot tubes up to 48".

The Series 160F-KIT includes the 160-18, 160-24, 160-36, and 160-48 models along with a carrying case. The static pressure port is parallel to the sensing tube to allow quick alignment of the tube with airflow.
