Supported Applications

The Omega OMDC-CF Series is a NEMA C Face Motor Speed Sensor Kit designed for monitoring motor speeds when direct access to the motor shaft is impossible. The kit mounts directly to the motor's NEMA C face and produces a square wave output suitable for closed-loop controls or digital devices.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The sensor operates on an excitation voltage of 4.5 to 24 VDC, with the load capable of sinking 20 mA DC. The ambient operating temperature range is -40 to 125°C (-40 to 257°F). The molded sensing disk included in the kit is impervious to dust, oil, and water.

Maximum air gap dimensions vary by model:

  • H1/J1: 6.35 mm (0.25 in)
  • H2/J2: 4.57 mm (0.18 in)
  • H15/J15: 3.18 mm (0.125 in)
  • H60/J60: 0.254 mm (0.010 in)

Configuration Options

The series is available with different pulses per revolution to accommodate various frame sizes and resolution needs.

    • H Series: NEMA 56C face motor sensor kit
    • J Series: NEMA 143TC, 145TC, 182C, and 184C frame sizes (with ⅞" dia. shaft)

The kit includes a sensing disk, motor race ring, mounting bolts, and an operator's manual. The electrical hookup diagram specifies RED for Vcc (4.5 to 24 VDC), BLUE for signal output, and BLACK for common.

Key Product Differences

The OMDC-CF series is divided into two primary model families based on the NEMA frame size they accommodate.

  • H Series Models: Designed for NEMA 56C face motor sensor kits. Available in H1, H2, H15, and H60 configurations corresponding to 1, 2, 15, or 60 pulses per revolution.
  • J Series Models: Designed for larger frame sizes including NEMA 143TC, 145TC, 182C, and 184C with a ⅞" diameter shaft. Available in J1, J2, J15, and J60 configurations corresponding to 1, 2, 15, or 60 pulses per revolution.
