Supported Applications

The Omega PR-23 series consists of Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) probes designed for temperature measurement in industrial and process environments. These sensors feature a molded M8 connector interface, providing an IP67-rated electrical connection suitable for applications requiring protection against dust ingress and temporary immersion.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PR-23 series utilizes 316 Stainless Steel sheath construction to house the sensing element. Measurement ranges vary by accuracy class: Class A elements operate from -30 to 350°C (-22 to 622°F), while Class B elements cover a broader range of -50 to 500°C (-58 to 932°F). Accuracy specifications are defined as ±0.15°C @ 0°C for IEC Class A and ±0.30°C @ 0°C for IEC Class B.

Ambient operating temperature limits for the series are -50 to 90°C (-58 to 194°F). The probes maintain an IP67 enclosure rating at the connector interface.

Configuration Options

The PR-23 series is configurable across sensor element types, accuracy classes, diameters, and insertion lengths. Model numbers follow the format PR-23-1-<ELEMENT>-<DIAMETER>-<LENGTH>-M8.

  • Sensor Elements: Available in Pt100 (Class A and Class B) or Pt1000 (Class B). Note that IEC Class A is not available for 1000 Ω elements.
  • Diameters: Offered in standard sizes of 1/8" or metric M3 (3 mm).
  • Probe Lengths: Standard inch-based lengths include 2", 3", 4", 6", 9", and 12". Metric options range from 100 mm to 350 mm.
  • Connector Interface: All models feature a molded, IP67-rated 3-pin M8 connector.
  • Accessories: Optional extension cables (e.g., M8C-SIL-3-S-F-1.5) are available separately to extend the sensor reach.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PR-23 series differ primarily by element resistance, accuracy class, and dimensional configuration:

  • Pt100 vs. Pt1000: The series offers both 100 Ω (Pt100) and 1000 Ω (Pt1000) platinum elements.
  • Accuracy Class Distinction: Models designated with "-A" in the model number indicate IEC Class A accuracy, while those marked "-B" denote IEC Class B. As noted in series documentation, Pt1000 sensors are available only as Class B; therefore, no "-A" designation exists for 1000 Ω variants.
  • Dimensional Standards: The product line supports both inch-based (e.g., 6", 9") and metric (e.g., 150 mm, 250 mm) insertion lengths to accommodate different installation requirements.
