Supported Applications
The Omega PR-25CU series comprises Fast Response Copper Tip RTD Sensors designed for temperature measurement in bearing applications and within thermowells. These probes feature a copper alloy tip to improve thermal response, housed in a 316L Stainless Steel sheath.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PR-25CU series operates across a process temperature range of -50 to 250°C (-58 to 482°F), with an ambient operating temperature limit of -50 to 85°C (-58 to 185°F). Accuracy is specified as IEC CLASS A, providing ±0.15°C @ 0°C.
Response time performance in water at 0.91 m (3')/second is documented as:
- 6 Seconds for 63.2%
- 5 Seconds for 50%
- 11 Seconds for 90%
The series undergoes vibration testing rated at 3g's Between 5 and 500 Hz for 3 Hours in the Axial Transverse Axes (for lengths of 150 mm or 6" Long or Shorter). Optional NIST certification is available.
Configuration Options
The PR-25CU series supports a configurable envelope including sensor resistance, accuracy class, sheath diameter, insertion length, and mounting thread types. The standard electrical connection is an M12 'A-Coded' male connector (4-pin).
Sheath Dimensions & Materials
- Diameter: 1/4" (6.35 mm) or 6 mm; options include 3/16" and 4.5 mm.
- Lengths: Standard lengths of 6" (150 mm) are available, with custom overall lengths configurable per model number guide.
- Wetted Materials: Copper alloy tip; 316L Stainless Steel Sheath and Housing.
Sensor Elements & Accuracy
- Resistance: Standard 100 Ω elements, with 1000 Ω available via model number modification.
- Accuracy Class: IEC CLASS A (standard) or Class B configurable by changing the "-A" to "-B" in the model code.
Mounting & Process Connections
Straight sheath configurations include various mounting threads. Standard-to-order and metric tables list:
- NPT Threads: 1/4 NPT, 3/8 NPT, 1/2 NPT.
- Metric & BSPP Threads: M8x1, M10x1, G1/2, G1/4 BSPP.
Cables & Accessories
The series supports separate cable options including the M12CM-T24SSPC-SF-2 and M12CM-T24SSPC-RF-2 cables (sold separately).
Key Product Differences
Variants within the PR-25CU series are distinguished by model number segments defining specific configurations. The standard-to-order models include:
- Straight Sheath Only: Models such as PR-25CUA feature a straight sheath without integral mounting threads.
- NPT Mounting Variants: Series suffixes B, C, and D denote 1/2 NPT, 3/8 NPT, and 1/4 NPT mounting respectively (e.g., PR-25CUB).
Metric variants utilize different model prefixes to indicate thread type:
- PR-25CUE: M8x1 mounting thread.
- PR-25CUF: M10x1 mounting thread.
- PR-25CUG / PR-25CUH: G1/2 and G1/4 BSPP mounting threads respectively.
Diameter variations are indicated in the model number: "-M6" denotes 6 mm, while changing to "-M4.5" specifies a 4.5 mm diameter with no additional cost. Similarly, inch-based diameters use "-1/4" for standard and "-3/16" for smaller probes.
