Supported Applications

The Omega PR-31 series consists of RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) probes featuring high temperature molded M12 connectors. These sensors are designed for process and test applications requiring robust electrical connections in environments subject to vibration, as the units are tested per ASTM-E1137.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PR-31 series operates within a probe temperature range of -50 to 500°C (-58 to 932°F). The molded connector assembly is rated for an ambient operating temperature of -50 to 260°C (-58 to 500°F) and carries an IP65 enclosure rating. Performance accuracy follows IEC Class A (±0.15°C @ 0°C, valid from -50 to 300°C) and IEC Class B (±0.30°C @ 0°C, valid from 300 to 500°C). The probes are constructed with a 316 Stainless Steel sheath.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and electrical options through the model number structure: PR-31-3-<RESISTANCE>-<DIAMETER>-<LENGTH>-M12-<WIRING_OPTION>. Key configuration parameters include:

  • Element Resistance: Standard 100Ω (Pt100) and a 1000Ω option available by modifying the model number.
  • Diameters: Available in Imperial sizes (e.g., 1/4", 1/8") and Metric diameters (M3, M6).
  • Lengths: Configurable insertion lengths including standard options such as 0300 to 1200 for imperial variants and 0100 to 0250 mm for metric variants.
  • Wiring Options: Option 1 (standard) or Option 2 wiring, selectable via the final digit in the model number with no additional cost.
  • Bendability: Probes are bendable after the first 2" (65 mm) from the tip; a minimum suggested bend radius of 2x the probe diameter is required.

The electrical connection utilizes a molded 4-pin M12 connector. An extension cable, model M12C-SIL-4-R-F-1.5, is available as an accessory sold separately.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PR-31 series are distinguished by probe diameter (Imperial vs. Metric), insertion length, and resistance value (100Ω or 1000Ω). The model number explicitly denotes these parameters alongside the wiring configuration (-1 for Option 1, -2 for Option 2).
