Supported Applications

The Omega PRCU series consists of Fast Response Copper Tip RTD Sensors designed for temperature measurement. These probes feature a copper alloy tip engineered to provide rapid thermal response, documented as a maximum of 2 seconds in water at 3'/sec flow velocity.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PRCU series operates within a process temperature range of -50 to 260°C. The sensors utilize 100 Ω Class "A" DIN platinum elements, meeting IEC CLASS A accuracy specifications with an accuracy value of ±0.15°C @ 0°C.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple configurations regarding probe dimensions, wire counts, and lead wire specifications. Standard probes are supplied with a 1 m (40") electrical connection consisting of 3-conductor #26 AWG stranded nickel plated copper, PFA insulated, and PFA jacketed.

Probe Dimensions

The series offers various probe diameters and insertion lengths. Imperial options include 1/4" and 3/16" diameters with standard lengths of 6", 9", 12", 18", and 24". Metric options are available in 6 mm (specified as '-M60') and 4.5 mm (specified as '-M45') diameters, with insertion lengths including 150 mm, 225 mm, 300 mm, 450 mm, and 600 mm.

Configuration Options

• Wire Configurations: Probes are supplied as 3-wire standard; 2-wire or 4-wire configurations may be ordered by consulting the Sales department. Color codes follow IEC751/ASTM-E-1137.
• Strain Relief: Shrink tube strain relief is available by adding '-ST' to the model number.
• Intermediate Lengths: Intermediate lengths are configurable; ordering requires changing the model number to the next longer length for pricing purposes. Probes over 24" incur additional cost per inch, and probes over 600 mm incur additional cost per 25 mm of probe length.

Wetted Materials

The wetted materials include a copper alloy tip and nickel plated copper wire.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PRCU series are distinguished by their model number structure, which encodes resistance at 0°C (100 Ω), element type, probe diameter, insertion length, and optional features. The standard configuration is a 3-wire sensor with specific lengths listed in the specification tables.

• Model numbers follow the pattern: PRCU----<DIAMETER>-<LENGTH>-E-ST (example).
• Diameter specifications require '-1/4' or '-3/16' for inch-based probes and '-M60' or '-M45' for metric 6 mm and 4.5 mm probes, respectively.
