Supported Applications

The Omega HCS Series consists of ceramic-insulated strip heaters designed for applications including dies, molds, plastic forming and sealing, and tank and kettle heating. These units feature a seamless stainless steel sheath with post terminals offset at one end.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports watt densities up to 40 W per square inch and operates at sheath temperatures up to 649°C (1200°F). Construction includes magnesium oxide packing, ceramic element support, and an element wire situated close to the outside surface for maximum heat transfer. Wattage tolerances are specified as -10 to 5% at rated voltage.

Dimensional Tolerances

  • Width: 1.500" ±0.010"
  • Thickness: 0.375" ±0.005"
  • Length (Up to 24"): ±1/16"
  • Length (24" and Over): ±1/8"

Watt Density Calculation

The formula for determination of watt density is: Total unit wattage / (C (heated length) x 3).

Configuration Options

HCS Series models are available in various sizes and power ratings, with overall lengths ranging from 140 mm (5.5 in) to 908 mm (35.75 in). The series offers configurations at both 120V and 240V.

The series carries CE approval.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the HCS Series differ primarily by model number, which dictates wattage and physical dimensions. The naming convention follows HCS--, such as HCS-055-120V or HCS-357-240V.

Lower power models (up to 1250 W) are offered in both 120V and 240V configurations. Higher wattage units, specifically the HCS-237 (1000 W), HCS-300 (2000 W), and HCS-357 (2500 W), are listed as available at 240V only.

Physical dimensions scale with wattage; for example, the HCS-055 measures 140 mm (5.5 in) overall length (A), while the largest variant, HCS-357, reaches 908 mm (35.75 in). All units maintain a consistent thickness of 0.375" ±0.005" and width of 1.500" ±0.010".
