Supported Applications
The Omega KHA-KIT-EFH-15001 Polyimide Flexible Heater Sample Kit provides thin, flexible heaters with adhesive backing designed to conform to flat or curved surfaces. The kit includes 15 different heater shapes outlined on a single sheet for easy selection and cutout. Documented applications include aerospace, analytical equipment, tooling, commercial equipment, agriculture, packaging, and material handling.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The polyimide heaters operate within a process temperature range of -200 to 200°C (-328 to 392°F). The pressure-sensitive adhesive backing supports continuous use up to 149°C (300°F) and short time periods up to 232°C (450°F). Each heater element has a thickness of 0.203 mm (0.008") with a dielectric strength minimum of 1000 Vac. Resistance values are nominal with a tolerance of ±10%. All kit heaters require either a temperature or power controller to regulate heater temperature.
Configuration Options
The KHA-KIT-EFH-15001 sample sheet measures 0.3 x 0.3 m (1x1') and contains the following configurable shapes:
- Square/Rectangular Shapes: 0.5 x 2.0, 0.75 x 2.5, 0.75 x 3.25, 1.0 x 1.0, 1.0 x 3.0, 1.0 x 6.0, 1.5 x 4.5, 1.5 x 8.0, 2.0 x 3.0, 2.5 x 1.25, 2.5 x 2.5, and 3.0 x 3.0 (inches).
- Circular Shapes: 1.5 Dia., 2.0 Dia., and 3.0 Dia. (inches).
Heaters can be combined to provide various resistances and wattages. Electrical connections are made by soldering leads or using alligator clips. Lead wire preparation requires stripping about 1/4", scrubbing with a fiberglass brush, flattening strands, and tinning with high-temperature solder (97.5% lead, 1.5% silver, 1% tin) at approximately 288°C (550°F). A PTFE-insulated lead wire is recommended for energizing the heater.
Power supply options include 115 or 230 Vac. Recommended lead-wire gage depends on current draw, ranging from AWG 28 to AWG 14 based on maximum currents of 1.25 A up to 20 A as detailed in the specification tables.
Key Product Differences
The series is offered as a single sample kit model: KHA-KIT-EFH-15001, described as a Polyimide flexible heater sample kit with 15 different shapes. The product overview notes chemical resistance to many solvents and oils.
