Supported Applications
The DPPT Series is the OMEGA PLATINUM™ family of microprocessor-based universal-input digital panel meters, built for high-accuracy temperature and process indication in industrial control panels. A bright 3-color (red, green, amber) 9-segment LED display with a wide viewing angle makes readings easy to see across a control room, machine console, or process skid.
Because each meter accepts thermocouples, RTDs, thermistors, and process voltage or current signals, the DPPT Series covers a wide span of monitoring and control tasks — from furnace and oven temperature to flow, pressure, and load signals delivered by process transmitters and strain sensors. Flexible alarm programming, isolated analog retransmission, and optional serial and Ethernet communications extend the series into alarming, control, and networked data acquisition roles.
Operating Conditions & Performance
DPPT meters run from a universal supply of 90 to 240 Vac ±10%, 50 to 400 Hz, or 110 to 375 Vdc, with a low-voltage option of 12 to 36 Vdc. A 24-bit sigma-delta converter samples at 20 readings per second and resolves temperature to 0.1°, while process inputs resolve to the 10 microvolt level.
The universal input handles wide, sensor-specific ranges: a J thermocouple spans -210 to 1200°C (-346 to 2192°F), a K thermocouple reaches -160 to 1372°C (-256 to 2502°F), and thermocouple accuracy is as tight as 0.4°C (0.7°F). RTD inputs cover 100 Ω, 500 Ω, and 1000 Ω platinum sensors with accuracy to 0.3°C, and process inputs read voltage to ±100 mV and ±10 Vdc or current across 0 to 24 mA at 0.03% FS.
The meters operate over an ambient range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) at 90% RH non-condensing. The 1/32 and 1/16 DIN models carry a NEMA 4X (IP65) front bezel for wash-down panel faces, while the 1/8 DIN models use a NEMA 1 front bezel. All sizes share a common 127 mm case depth.
Configuration Options
The DPPT Series is configured through a structured model number, DP<Size>Pt - <Alarm Outputs> - <Communications> - <Power>, so a meter can be tailored to the panel, the alarm scheme, the network, and the available power:
- DIN size — 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 DIN formats fit the available cutout. The 1/32 and 1/16 DIN models drive a 10.2 mm digit height, while the larger DP8Pt/DP8EPT display uses a 21 mm digit height.
- Alarm outputs — the -330 option adds two mechanical relays for alarm and control; SPDT and SPST relays are rated 250 Vac or 30 Vdc at 3 A, alongside an SSR rated 20 to 265 Vac.
- Communications — USB is standard on every model; the -C24 option adds software-selectable RS232/RS485 serial, and Ethernet-equipped models carry the -EIP suffix. Ethernet options are not available on 1/32 DIN models.
- Power — the -DC suffix selects the low-voltage DC power input in place of the standard universal AC supply.
Key Product Differences
The lineup is built from three DIN-size platforms, each expandable with alarm, communications, and power options:
- DP32Pt — 1/32 DIN universal-input meter (for example DP32Pt-C24 with serial, or DP32Pt-330-C24-DC with two relays, serial, and DC power).
- DP16Pt — 1/16 DIN universal-input meter, offered with relays, serial, Ethernet, and DC options (for example DP16Pt-330-DC and Ethernet-capable DP16Pt-EIP).
- DP8Pt and DP8EPT — 1/8 DIN universal-input meters with the larger LED display and the full range of alarm, communications, and power options.
Across the family, thermocouple, RTD, thermistor, and process inputs are common to every size, so a configuration differs only in cutout, alarm and communication options, and power input rather than in core measurement capability.
