Supported Applications

The CDTX-111 and CDTX-112 are microprocessor-controlled panel instruments for in-process monitoring and control of conductivity, resistivity and temperature. Housed in a ¼ DIN case with a back-lit LED digital display, they are designed for industrial process measurement where conductivity must be watched and acted on continuously.

Because range switch-over and cell-constant checks can be freely set and adjusted during operation, the controllers adapt to a wide span of water and process solutions. Fully configurable control, alarm and feedback are provided through up to two relay outputs plus an isolated analog current output, so the instrument can drive dosing, alarms or valves as part of a closed loop.

The controllers carry the CE mark. Note: these products are not designed for, and should not be used for, human applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The instruments measure conductivity across selectable ranges - from 0 to 19.99 μS/cm and 0 to 199.9 μS/cm through 0 to 1999 μS/cm, up to 0 to 100 mS/cm and 0 to 600 mS/cm - as well as resistivity to 0 to 18 MΩ, depending on the conductivity cell fitted.

Key performance figures include:

  • Accuracy: ±1% FS on conductivity and ±0.2°C on temperature.
  • Resolution: down to 0.01 MΩ on resistivity and 0.1°C on temperature.
  • Repeatability: ±0.1% of range.

Automatic or manual temperature compensation covers the process range, with the process medium rated to 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F). The controller operates in ambient conditions of -10 to 55°C (14 to 131°F) at 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity, with an IP54 front rating. Power is drawn from an AC 110 V to 220 V ±10% supply at 50/60 Hz. Analog output is an isolated 4 to 20 mA signal into a 750 Ω maximum load, and the relay outputs are rated at 250 V/10 A.

Configuration Options

The CDTX-111 and CDTX-112 share the same measurement engine and both order as ¼ DIN conductivity monitors and controllers. Both offer on/off relay outputs, a selectable zero-and-span analog output and the isolated 4 to 20 mA current output, together with user-programmable hysteresis so alarm and control deadbands can be tuned to the process.

The measured range and wetted materials are set by the conductivity cell chosen rather than by the controller. Cells range from cell constant K = 0.01 up to K = 30, in 316 SS, platinum-and-glass or platinum sensor constructions, each rated to 0.6 MPa operating pressure, an IP68 sensor rating, and an operating range of 0 to 80°C (32 to 176°F). This lets a single controller be matched to pure-water resistivity duty at one extreme or high-conductivity process duty at the other.

Key Product Differences

The two controller models are ordered with sensors sold separately:

  • CDTX-111 - conductivity monitor and controller, ¼ DIN.
  • CDTX-112 - conductivity monitor and controller, ¼ DIN.

A range of conductivity cells is offered as accessories, each selected by cell constant and measurement span:

  • CDE-100-001 - cell constant K = 0.01, for 0 to 18 MΩ or 0 to 19.99 μS/cm; 316 SS sensor, 16 x 65 mm (0.63 x 2.5").
  • CDE-100-01 - cell constant K = 0.1, for 0 to 999.9 μS/cm.
  • CDE-100-1 - cell constant K = 1.0, for 0 to 9999 μS/cm.
  • CDE-100-10 - cell constant K = 10.0, for 0 to 100 mS/cm; ABS outer tube, platinum-and-glass sensor.
  • CDE-100-30 - cell constant K = 30.0, for 0 to 600 mS/cm; PPS outer tube, platinum sensor, 23 x 135 mm (0.9 x 5.3").

All cells terminate in a ¼ NPT thread on a 5 m (16.4') cable. The controller body measures 96 × 48 × 110 mm (3.78 x 1.89 x 4.33") in the CDTX-111 format and 96 × 96 × 110 mm (3.78 x 3.78 x 4.33") in the larger format, with weights of 580 g (20.4 oz) and 650 g (22.9 oz).
