Supported Applications

The Series SBLT2 Submersible Level Transmitters measure liquid height above a reference point in a tank relative to atmospheric pressure. The series is designed for applications including air economizers, groundwater monitoring, environmental remediation, and water tanks.

  • Air economizers
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Environmental remediation
  • Water tanks

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitters utilize a piezoresistive sensing element encased in a 316 SS housing. Accuracy is specified as ±0.25% FS, with configured ranges below 5 psi (11.54 ft w.c.) [3.52 m w.c.] listed at ±1% FS accuracy. The pressure limit is rated at 2X FS.

  • Temperature Limit: SBLT2 Polyurethane cable operates from 0 to 150°F (-18 to 66°C); ETFE cable from 0 to 200°F (-18 to 93°C). The SBLTX variant supports -4 to 176°F (-20 to 80°C) for ETFE and -4 to 149°F (-20 to 65°C) for Polyurethane.
  • Compensated Temperature Range: SBLT2 is compensated from 0 to 140°F (-18 to 60°C); SBLTX is compensated from 0 to 176°F (-18 to 80°C).
  • Thermal Effect: Less than ±0.02% FS/°F.
  • Response Time: 50 ms.

Measurement Ranges

The series supports measurement ranges in psi (up to a maximum of 5000 psi) and feet (up to a maximum of 1500 feet). Specific configured ranges include:

  • 5 psi (11.54 ft w.c.) [3.52 m w.c.]
  • 10 psi (23.09 ft w.c.) [7.04 m w.c.]
  • 15 psi (34.63 ft w.c.) [10.56 m w.c.]
  • 20 psi (46.18 ft w.c.) [14.08 m w.c.]

Configuration Options

The Series SBLT2 and SBLTX offer configurable options for cable type, length, process connections, and hazardous location approvals.

Cable Options

  • Polyurethane (standard)
  • ETFE (-ETFE option code)

Process Connections & Mounting

  • Standard: 1/2 NPT process connection.
  • Optional connections include P1 (1/4" NPT male), P2 (1/4" NPT female), P3 (1/4" BSPT male ISO 228 R), P4 (1/4" BSPT female ISO 228 RC), and P11 (3/4" clean-out type).
  • Mounting orientation: Suspended in tank below level being measured.

Hazardous Location Approvals

The SBLTX variant is UL listed for use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations with Intrinsic Safety, "ia" protection. It holds ATEX and IECEx certifications:

  • UL: Class I Div. 1 Groups A,B,C,D; Class II Div. 1 Groups E,F,G; Class III Div. 1.
  • ATEX: EU Type Certificate NO. DEMKO 18 ATEX 2080 (II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and II 1 D Ex ia IIIC T135C Da).
  • IECEx: Certificate of Conformity IECEx UL 18.0086.

Electrical Specifications

  • Output Signal: 4-20 mA DC, 2-wire.
  • Power Requirement: SBLT2 requires 10-30 VDC; SBLTX requires 10-28 VDC.
  • Max. Loop Resistance: 900 Ω at 30 VDC (SBLT2); 900 Ω (SBLTX).

Key Product Differences

The series comprises two primary model families with distinct performance envelopes and approvals:

  • Series SBLT2: Features lightning and surge protection utilizing dual arrestor technology. Power requirement is 10-30 VDC.
  • Series SBLTX: Designed for hazardous locations (Intrinsic Safety "ia"). Does not include the standard lightning/surge protection found in the non-hazardous model; power requirement is limited to 10-28 VDC. The SBLTX transducer is not field repairable.

Both series share a bullet nose design that protects the diaphragm from damage and include a ventilation tube in the cable to automatically compensate for changes in atmospheric pressure above the tank. Wetted materials consist of 316 SS/316L SS body, PVC bullet nose, Polyether polyurethane or ETFE cable, and Fluoroelastomer seals.
