Supported Applications

The Omega FMA-LP2600A Series consists of low pressure drop mass gas flow controllers designed for clean gases. These units utilize a laminar flow element (LFE) and differential pressure sensor to measure and control mass flow rate based on the Poiseuille equation. The series supports pure and mixed gases, offering custom calibrations where users specify the gas type along with inlet/outlet or backpressure conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FMA-LP2600A Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F) and supports humidity levels from 0 to 100% RH, non-condensing. The controllers feature a pressure rating of 50 psig. Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±0.8% of reading + 0.2% FS and repeatability of ±0.2% FS. Response time is documented as 50 to 100 ms typical.

Flow ranges span from 0.5 SCCM to 500 SLM, with specific pressure drops at full scale varying by model size:

• Low Flow (SCCM): Ranges such as 0.5 to 2 SCCM exhibit a pressure drop of 0.06 psid venting to 1 ATM.
• Moderate Flow (SLPM): Models up to 2 SLPM show drops between 0.1 and 0.18 psid; larger models like the 500 SLM unit exhibit a drop of 0.69 psid.

The series includes NIST Traceability Standard certification alongside CE and RoHS approvals.

Configuration Options

The FMA-LP2600A Series is configurable across multiple dimensions to meet specific process requirements. Key selection parameters include flow range, output signal type, connection style, and optional features such as totalizers or shut-off valves.

• Flow Ranges: Available from 0.5 SCCM up to 500 SLM in discrete steps (e.g., 1 SLPM, 2 SLPM, 5 SLPM, 10 SLPM, 20 SLPM, 40 SLPM, 50 SLPM, 100 SLPM, 250 SLPM).
• Output Signals: Standard output is 0 to 5 Vdc. Optional configurations include 4 to 20 mA (suffix "-I"), dual 4 to 20 mA outputs (suffix "-12"), or dual 0 to 5 V outputs (suffix "V2").
• Input Signals: Standard input is 0 to 5 V; optional 4 to 20 mA input available with suffix "-IN".
• Process Connections: Options include 10 - 32 thread, 1/8 FNPT, 1/4 FNPT, and 3/4 FNPT depending on the flow range. Models with integrated positive shut-off valves feature ¼" welded male VCR fittings.
• Communication: Standard RS232 communication is included; RS485 is available as an option (suffix "-RS485").
• Totalizer Option: A totalizing function can be added with suffix "-TOT", providing a 6-digit counter. Users must specify resolution and units.
• Secondary Outputs: Optional secondary outputs scaled to temperature (suffix "-T") or pressure (suffix "-P").
• Units of Measure: Standard scaling is in SCCM/SLPM; SCFH ranges are available with suffix "-SCFH".

Wetted materials include 303 and 302 SS, FKM, silicone RTV (rubber), glass-reinforced nylon, aluminum, brass, 410 SS, silicone, glass, 416 SS, and nickel. Electrical connection is via an 8-pin circular mini DIN connector.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes models primarily by flow capacity and physical dimensions. Smaller units (up to 500 SCCM) share a compact form factor of approximately 99 mm height, while larger units (1 SLPM and above) increase in size up to 140 mm height for the highest ranges.

Specific model variations include:

• FMA-LP26xxA Base Models: Standard configuration with RS232 communication and 0-5 V output/input.
• -I Suffix: Adds a single 4 to 20 mA analog output.
• -12 Suffix: Provides two independent 4 to 20 mA outputs.
• -V2 Suffix: Configures the unit with dual 0 to 5 V outputs.
• -P Suffix: Integrates a positive shut-off valve; available on models up to 20 SLM and utilizes welded male VCR fittings instead of standard threaded connections.

Custom calibrations for specific gases or mixtures are indicated by adding "-(#)" to the model number, with no additional cost. The series supports simultaneous display of pressure, temperature, and mass flow via a pushbutton interface.
