Supported Applications
The Omega FPR300 and FPR310 Series are low-flow impeller flowmeters designed for liquid applications. The series is engineered to meter water or low-corrosion fluids (FPR300) and chemically resistant fluids requiring higher material compatibility (FPR310). These meters provide a pulse output compatible with various Omega rate displays, controls, and transmitters.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within specific temperature and pressure limits depending on the model family. The FPR300 Series supports process temperatures up to 160°F (70°C), while the FPR310 Series is rated for up to 180°F (82°C). Both families share a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi (10 bar).
Measurement accuracy is specified as ±1% of full scale. The series covers four distinct flow ranges based on the model number and connection size:
- -038 / FPR301/FPR311: 0.07–5 Gal/Min (0.27–18.9 Liter/Min)
- -050 / FPR302/FPR312: 0.1–10 Gal/Min (0.38–37.9 Liter/Min)
- -075 / FPR303/FPR313: 0.2–20 Gal/Min (0.75–75 Liter/Min)
- -100 / FPR304/FPR314: 0.5–40 Gal/Min (1.9–150 Liter/Min)
Maximum pressure drop varies by model size, listed as 15 psi for the -038/FPR301/FPR311 models and 20 psi for the larger sizes.
Configuration Options
The series is available in two primary material configurations to address different fluid compatibility needs. The FPR300 Series features a polypropylene body with an acrylic cover (standard) or optional polypropylene lens cover, while the FPR310 Series utilizes TFE housing and covers for enhanced chemical resistance.
Process connections are provided as female NPT threads in ⅛", ½", ¾", and 1" nominal sizes. Wetted materials include a PVDF rotor assembly across both series. Shaft construction differs by family: Nickel tungsten carbide (with ceramic or silicon carbide options) for the FPR300, and Zirconia ceramic (with silicon carbide options) for the FPR310.
Electrical specifications include a power supply requirement of 6–24 Vdc with a minimum current draw of 2 mA. The output signal is described as either a "Current sinking pulse" or an "NPN open collector." A standard sensor cable length of 5.5 m (18') is included, with support for maximum runs up to 2000 ft (607 m).
Available options and accessories include:
- Polypropylene lens cover or acrylic covers
- FKM, EPDM, or PTFE-coated FKM O-Rings depending on the series model
- PVDF/Ceramic or PVDF/Silicon Carbide rotor assemblies
- Replacement sensors and specific replacement parts (e.g., FPR300-SENSOR)
- Compatible displays such as DPF-143, DPF-144, FMG-1000-MAW, and DPF701
Key Product Differences
The FPR300 Series (models FPR301–FPR304) is characterized by a polypropylene body and transparent acrylic covers that allow for visual flow indication. The standard O-ring material for this series is EPDM, with FKM or PTFE-coated FKM available as options.
The FPR310 Series (models FPR311–FPR314) distinguishes itself through the use of TFE housing and opaque covers that do not provide visual flow indication. This series is configured with a standard PVDF/ceramic rotor assembly, Zirconia ceramic shafts, and PTFE-coated FKM O-rings as standard equipment.
Both series utilize ruby ring and ball bearings to support very low minimum flow rates. Nominal K-factors vary by model size and material family; for example, the -038/FPR301 range lists 1417 pulses/gal (FPR300) or 1394 pulses/gal (FPR310), while high-resolution 6-magnet options approximately triple these values.
