Supported Applications

The Omega FP-Fittings series provides sensor installation fittings designed for insertion type paddle wheel flow meters. These components are used to install sensors in piping systems and support the FP-5300, FP-5100, FP8500, FP-5600, and FP-5200 Series.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series accommodates a wide range of pipe sizes from ½" to 12", with metric equivalents available for specific materials. A critical operating constraint applies to larger fittings: all 10" and larger fittings are limited to 60°C (140°F) liquid temperature due to the PVC Insert.

Material selection dictates end connection styles and size availability:

  • PVC fittings up to 4" line size without an "S" suffix feature slip-on ends for schedule 40 or schedule 80 pipe; sizes 6" and larger, as well as those with the "S" suffix, are cement-on saddles.
  • All CPVC fittings have slip-on ends for schedule 80 pipe.
  • PVDF and Polypropylene fittings larger than 2" line size utilize a wafer style to slip between DIN standard PVDF or polypro flanges; sizes of 2" and smaller feature socket ends. All include FKM O-rings.

Material-Specific Connection Styles

  • Carbon Steel & Stainless 316: For 2" line size and smaller, fittings are "tee" style; all larger 316SS fittings are Weldolet style.
  • Galvanized Iron: Up to and including 2" without the "S" suffix are "tee" style; sizes above 2" and those with the "S" suffix are double "strap-on" saddles.
  • Copper/Bronze (Brass): Fittings with a "CU" suffix for copper and brass tubing have sweat-on end fittings. Brass fittings of 2 inches and smaller are NPT threaded tees; above 2", they are Brazelots.
  • FP-5200 Series Metal Sensors: All FP-52XX fittings with the suffix "S" are galvanized iron double strap-on, while those without the "S" suffix are weld-on stainless steel.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options across wetted materials and mounting styles to match specific piping infrastructure. Fittings are now supplied without a plug; model FMK-31536-1 is available separately for polypropylene plugs.

Wetted Materials

  • PVC 40 & 80
  • CPVC 80 (Metric Size Only)
  • PVDF (Metric Size Only)
  • Polypropylene (Metric Size Only)
  • Stainless 316
  • Galvanized Iron
  • Carbon Steel
  • Copper/Bronze (Brass)

Key Product Differences

Variants are distinguished by pipe material, size range, and connection method. Model numbers reflect these distinctions through specific suffixes:

  • Suffix "S": Indicates weldolet or saddle-type fittings (e.g., FP-5307M vs. FP-5320S*).
  • Metric Availability: PVDF and Polypropylene materials are available only in metric sizes.
  • Special Requirements: For pipe schedules other than schedule 40 for PVC or iron saddles, and for Weldolets and Brazelots, the specific pipe schedule must be specified when ordering.
