Supported Applications

The Omega DWT1305 Series Precision Deadweight Testers are hydraulic instruments designed for testing, setting, calibrating, or repairing pressure-measuring devices. These self-contained units serve as primary standards for verifying the accuracy of a variety of pressure gauges and instrumentation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates across an overall range of 15 to 10,000 psi (100 to 70,000 kPa). Accuracy is specified as 0.1% of produced pressure, with a combined tolerance for weights and piston/cylinder assemblies within this limit. The instruments utilize SAE 20 automotive or machine oil as the operating fluid.

Each unit features two interchangeable piston and cylinder assemblies to cover dual ranges: one assembly handles low-pressure applications below 2000 psi (14,000 kPa), while the second covers high pressure through 10,000 psi (70,000 kPa). The same set of weights is used with both pistons. For optimal accuracy, deviation from standard gravity conditions must be applied to readings.

Configuration Options

The DWT1305 Series offers multiple pressure range configurations identified by model suffixes (e.g., -10, -20, -30, -50, -100). Each configuration includes specific weight sets and piston assemblies tailored to the designated low and high ranges.

  • Pressure Ranges: Models cover combinations from 15/200 psi up to 75/10,000 psi. Specific model variants include DWT1305D-10 (15/200 and 75/1000), DWT1305D-20 (15/400 and 75/2000), DWT1305D-30 (15/600 and 75/3000), DWT1305D-50 (15/1000 and 75/5000), and DWT1305D-100 (15/2000 and 75/10,000).
  • Construction Materials: The pump body is constructed from aluminum alloy. Piston and cylinder assemblies are made of high-strength stainless steel. Weights consist of non-magnetic die-cast zinc alloy.
  • O-Rings: Standard Buna-N O-rings are used, compatible with light grade machine oils and SAE 20 automotive petroleum base fluids.
  • Included Accessories: Each unit is supplied with a hydraulic pump (easy-to-use 2-stage), two piston/cylinder assemblies, a weight set, three wrenches, spare O-rings, piping and fittings, an operator's manual, and a rugged metal carrying case. A vernier screw adjustment facilitates precise pressure settings.
  • Calibration Options: Optional NIST-traceable calibration is available (indicated by the "-CAL-3" suffix). This certification includes actual weight values, piston diameter values, environmental data, and NIST test numbers. Standard units feature weights that are NBS traceable.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the DWT1305 Series differ primarily by their maximum pressure capabilities and the specific weight sets included to achieve those ranges. The model number suffix indicates the low-range upper limit (e.g., -10 for 200 psi, -100 for 2000 psi) while all models share a high-pressure capability extending up to 10,000 psi via the second piston assembly.

Net weight varies by model based on the quantity of weights required: DWT1305D-10 weighs 60 lbs (27 kg), increasing incrementally to 175 lbs (80 kg) for the DWT1305D-100. The reservoir volume is approximately 0.7 liter (1.5 pints). Units with the "-CAL-3" suffix are distinguished by their inclusion of NIST-traceable calibration documentation as a primary standard.
