Supported Applications
The Omega QC and QH Series High Watt Density Quartz Faced Radiant Infrared Panel Heaters are designed to provide uniform infrared coverage from the emitter face, eliminating uneven heating of the working surface. These heaters are intended for radiant heat only. Documented applications include textile drying, glass processing, thermoforming, film shrinking, powder coating, and paint finishing.
CAUTION: Hazard of fire. These radiant heater panels must not be operated in the presence of flammable vapors, gases, or combustible materials without proper ventilation and/or other safety precautions. NEVER LET MATERIAL COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE FACE OF THE HEATER.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The QC and QH Series feature a high purity fused quartz glass emitting face with a maximum operating temperature of 1800°F (981°C). The series is configured for two distinct watt densities:
- QC Series: 40 W/in²
- HQ Series: 60 W/in²
Power supply options include 240 Vac or dual voltage 240/480 Vac, single phase. The modular design allows for easy addition of units and placement in different configurations to meet specific heating needs.
Dimensions & Housing
- Radiant Surface: Widths from 4 inch (10 cm) to 12 inch (30 cm); Lengths include 10 inch (25 cm) and 12 inch (30 cm).
- Housing Dimensions: 127 mm (5") x 127 mm (5") x 38 mm (1.5").
- Housing Material: Heavy gauge aluminized steel.
- Junction Box: Includes cover, dimensions 102 x 102 mm / 4 x 4 in with 1/4-20 x 19 (0.75") studs for electrical connection.
Wattage & Model Examples
The series offers various wattages based on dimensions and density:
- QC Series (40 W/in²): Ranges from 1600 W to 5760 W. Example: QC-061040 is a 2400 W, dual voltage 240/480 Vac heater.
- HQ Series (60 W/in²): Ranges from 2400 W to 8640 W. Example: QH-061060 is a 3600 W, dual voltage 240/480 Vac heater.
Configuration Options
The series supports configuration with or without an optional thermowell for temperature control. Mounting studs allow heaters to be operated face up or down.
- Thermowell Option: Optional 476 cm (3/16") i.d. quartz thermowell available for use with type K thermocouples. The model number suffix "-T" indicates the inclusion of this option (e.g., QC-041040-T).
- Sensor Compatibility: Thermowells accept 3/16" diameter probes.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two series is watt density and maximum output capability. The QC Series operates at 40 W/in², while the QH Series operates at a higher 60 W/in². Both series share the same fused quartz glass face material and 1800°F (981°C) temperature rating.
Model numbers follow the format SERIES-WIDTH-LENGTH-WATTAGE-T. For example, QC-041040 denotes a QC Series heater with a 4-inch width, 10-inch length, and 40 W/in² density. The QH series follows an identical naming convention but reflects the higher wattage output for equivalent dimensions.
