Supported Applications
The Omega CN3261 Series is a high-limit analog temperature controller designed to protect heaters and sensitive materials from damage caused by excessive temperatures. The unit functions as an over-temperature safety device, de-energizing the controlled circuit when sensed temperature exceeds a set point. It is intended for industrial and commercial applications requiring high-temperature protection.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CN3261 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F). Set point accuracy is specified as ±3% FS maximum at 25°C and rated line voltage. Control stability is typically less than ±5μV/°F ambient and 0.1% of SPAN/% rated line voltage.
Measurement ranges vary by sensor input type:
- J Thermocouple: -18 to 760°C (0 to 1400°F) or 0 to 750°C depending on model
- K Thermocouple: -18 to 1260°C (0 to 2300°F)
- RTD: -18 to 454°C (0 to 850°F), 2-wire input
The controller includes automatic cold junction compensation for thermocouple inputs and provides sensor break protection where contacts 4 and 5 open upon detection of a broken thermocouple or RTD. Noise rejection is rated at 60 dB Common Mode Rejection and 120 dB Series Mode Rejection.
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple configuration options across sensor inputs, power supplies, mounting styles, and reset functions:
- Sensor Inputs: J Thermocouple, K Thermocouple, or RTD (2-wire)
- Power Supply: 120 Vac standard; optional 24 Vac ±15%, 50/60 Hz
- Control Output: SPDT relay rated 3.8 A resistance and 1.5 A pilot duty, 120 Vac, 100,000 cycles
- Reset Function: Integral reset switch standard; terminals available for optional remote pushbutton reset
- Mounting: 35 mm DIN rail or surface mounting (sub-panel)
- Housing Material: Noryl, black color
- Approvals: cULus and FM Approved; UL Registered, Canadian UL Registered, Factory Mutual listed in supporting documentation
Key Product Differences
The CN3261 Series includes distinct model numbers corresponding to specific sensor types and power options. The standard models include:
- CN3261-JF: J thermocouple, 0 to 750°C (0 to 1400°F), 120 Vac
- CN3261-KF: K thermocouple, -18 to 1260°C (0 to 2300°F), 120 Vac
- CN3261-RTDF: RTD input, -18 to 454°C (0 to 850°F), 120 Vac
- CN3261-JC: J thermocouple, 0 to 750°C (0 to 1400°F)
- CN3261-JF-LV: Low power option with J thermocouple input and 24 Vac supply
Dimensions are listed as 76 H x 84 W x 64 mm D (3.0 x 3.3 x 2.5"), with an overall height of 84 mm (3.31") for mounting purposes. Field terminations utilize screw terminals with wire clamping plates and a touch-safe shield.
