Supported Applications

Hi-Flow Control Valves are single seated, top or cage guided globe valves designed for steam and water flow control. They provide high flow capacity and a wide rangeability of 50:1, and are built from brass, iron or 316 SS for durability and corrosion resistance. Line sizes run from 1/2" to 2" in 2-way or 3-way globe body styles with 1/2" to 2" female NPT end connections.

  • Compatible liquids
  • Gases
  • Steam

A pneumatic spring/diaphragm actuator drives the valve. CAUTION: use of an actuator supply gas other than air can create a hazardous environment because a small amount of gas continuously vents to atmosphere. A California Proposition 65 warning applies, as the product may expose users to chemicals including lead.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The valve body pressure limit is 250 psi (17.2 bar) for iron and bronze bodies and 300 psi (20.7 bar) for the 316 SS body, over a process temperature range of 20 to 400°F (-7 to 204.4°C). The actuator accepts a standard control signal of 3 to 15 psi (0.21 to 1.0 bar), with custom ranges available.

  • Maximum actuator supply pressure: 100 psi (6.89 bar) for terminations 220, 222 and 230, and a lower maximum for terminations 221, 223, 231 and 233.
  • Actuator effective areas: 20 in² (standard), 45 in² and 80 in² (senior) depending on termination.
  • Maximum stroke: up to 1-1/2 in (38.1 mm).
  • Flow capacity (Cv at 100%): 6.45 for 1/2", 10.75 for 3/4", 17.42 for 1", 25.30 for 1-1/4", 32.10 for 1-1/2" and 50.30 for 2".

Valve trim is 316 stainless steel for the seat ring, disc and stem assembly, and the standard packing is three spring-loaded TFE V-rings with a wiper ring. Actuator construction includes a cast iron frame with baked enamel finish, a steel diaphragm case and a Buna-N rubber, nylon-reinforced diaphragm.

Configuration Options

Models differ by pipe size, body material, actuator action and actuator termination, so the valve can be matched to the line, the process fluid and the required shutoff pressure.

  • Pipe size / Cv: larger bodies raise flow capacity, from Cv 6.45 at 1/2" to Cv 50.30 at 2".
  • Body material: Iron, Bronze or 316 SS; the 316 SS body carries the higher 300 psi (20.7 bar) rating.
  • Actuator action: air-to-open and air-to-close (air-to-raise / air-to-lower) versions set the valve's fail position.
  • Actuator termination: Standard terminations (220, 222, 230) allow up to 100 psi (6.89 bar) supply, while Senior terminations (221, 223, 231, 233) use larger diaphragm areas.

Both 2-way and 3-way (3000W) globe configurations are available. Accessories include positioners (Series 2900), transducers (Series 2800), current-to-pressure transducers, and filters and regulators.

Key Product Differences
