Supported Applications

The Omega LDi-127 series comprises Heavy Duty Linear Variable Inductive Transducers (LVIT) designed for contactless linear position sensing. These sensors are engineered for factory automation and industrial or commercial applications, including solar cell positioners, wind turbine prop pitch and brakes, chute or gate positions on off-road or agri-vehicles, and packing equipment. The series is also suitable for industrial testing, laboratories, in-plant operations, and mobile equipment OEM applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LDi-127 sensors operate within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 85°C (-4 to 185°F) with a humidity rating of 95% RH, non-condensing. The series features an IP67 enclosure rating and is constructed from Anodized Aluminum housing. Performance specifications include a typical accuracy of ±0.15% of Full Scale Output (FSO), with a maximum accuracy of ±0.25%. Resolution is specified at 0.025% of FS, and the nominal response time is 300 Hz.

Environmental durability ratings for the series include:

  • Shock Rating: 1000 g, 11 ms
  • Vibration Rating: 5 to 20 Hz at 0.5" p-p; 20 to 2000 Hz at 4.2 g p-p

Power and Output Requirements

The sensors require a DC power supply dependent on the output configuration:

  • For 0-10 VDC output: 12 to 30V DC input.
  • For 4-20 mA output: 18 to 30V DC input (minimum).

Note: The 4-20 mA DC output is a 3-wire sourcing configuration and should not be connected to a 2-wire loop-powered system.

Configuration Options

The LDi series offers configurable linear ranges from 25 mm (1") to 450 mm (18"). The sensors are available with two primary output signal types: 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA. Each unit includes a radial exiting cable, 1 m (3.3') long, equipped with strain relief and two swivel rod eye ends for installation.

Wiring Configuration

The series supports field programmability via the white conductor or Pin B. The standard wiring assignments are:

  • Red (Pin E): + Power Input (12-30 V DC)
  • Black (Pin D): Common Ground
  • Green (Pin A): Analog DC Output (0 - 10 V or 4 - 20 mA)
  • White (Pin B): Field Programmability (calibration)

An alternative electrical connection option is available using a PTO2-10 6-pin connector.

Field Programmability Ranges

The sensors support field programmable calibration ranges:

  • 0-20% Range: Configurable for 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA output, with a maximum of 20% at both ends.
  • 80-100% Range: Configurable for 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA output, with a maximum of 20%.

The default setting is the full range (0 to Full Scale).

Housing and Dimensions

All models feature a housing diameter of 27 mm (1.05"). The overall length 'A' varies by measurement range, ranging from 114.3 mm (4.5") for the 25 mm model to 546.1 mm (21.5") for the 450 mm model.

Key Product Differences

The series is divided into two primary sub-series based on measurement range and physical length:

  • LDI-127 Series: Covers linear ranges from 25 mm to 200 mm (1" to 8").
  • LDI-128 Series: Covers linear ranges from 250 mm to 450 mm (10" to 18").

The LDI-119 is noted as a smaller body version intended for non-heavy-duty applications, distinct from the Heavy Duty LDi-127/128 series. Model numbers follow the structure LDI-<SERIES>-<RANGE>-<OUTPUT>-<OPTIONS>, where output codes denote 0 to 10 VDC (A010) or 4 to 20 mA (A020).
