Supported Applications

The Omega FPR100 Series consists of liquid flow sensors designed for visual indication, remote sensing, and flow alarm applications. The series monitors dynamic fluid flow using a rotor that reacts to turbulence, pulsation, entrained air, and other flow abnormalities. Models are configured as the FPR110 (visual indication only), FPR120 (visual indication with SPDT mechanical flow switch), or FPR130 (visual indication with square-wave pulse output). For optimum performance, units should be installed where nominal flow conditions exist with ports located at the top. A minimum of 8 inches of straight pipe on the inlet side is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FPR100 Series operates across a measurement range from 0.1 to 30.0 GPM, with specific low flow and standard ranges defined by port size and model selection. Accuracy varies by configuration: ±7% of Full Scale for the 0.5 to 5 GPM and 4 to 20 GPM ranges; ±15% of Full Scale for the 8 to 60 GPM range (FPR136); and ±10% of Full Scale for the 5 to 30 GPM range on specific brass models. Repeatability is specified as 2% of rate.

Operating temperature limits depend on body material: Brass bodies support -29 to 100°C (-20 to 212°F), while Polypropylene bodies are rated for -29 to 82°C (-20 to 180°F). Maximum ambient electronics temperature is 65.6°C (150°F). Pressure ratings are body-dependent: Brass or Stainless Steel bodies support up to 200 psig at 70°F and 100 psig at 212°F; Polypropylene bodies support up to 100 psig at 70°F and 40 psig at 180°F. The maximum liquid viscosity is 200 SSU, with a recommended filtration of 150 microns for media containing particulate or debris.

Flow Ranges by Port Size

  • .25" NPT: Low Range 0.1 to 1 GPM; Standard Range 0.5 to 5 GPM (Models FPR111, FPR113, FPR131, FPR133).
  • .50" NPT: Low Range 1.5 to 12 GPM; Standard Range 4.0 to 20 GPM (Models FPR112, FPR114, FPR132, FPR134).
  • .75" NPT: Standard Range 5.0 to 30 GPM; Low Range not available for this port size in the visual-only series (Models FPR115, FPR135).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options across body materials, process connections, output signals, and power requirements to accommodate specific installation needs.

Housing and Wetted Materials

  • Bodies: Polypropylene (hydrolytically stable, glass-reinforced), Brass, or Stainless Steel.
  • Rotor Pin: Ceramic.
  • Rotor: High Visibility Orange Molded Nylon composite or PFA/PPS.
  • Lens: Polysulfone.
  • O-Rings: Buna (with Polypropylene body) or FKM (with Brass/Stainless Steel bodies).

Process Connections and Mounting

  • Thread Types: NPT mating threads are standard; BSPP threads available by adding "-BSP" to the model number.
  • Port Sizes (NPT): 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 inches.
  • Mounting: Integral mounting holes are standard on all models.

Output Signals and Power

  • FPR110 (Visual Only): No electrical output; powered by flow dynamics only.
  • FPR120 (Flow Switch): SPDT Mechanical Flow Switch rated at 0.5 A @ 110 Vac or 1 A @ 24 Vdc. Setpoint deadband is 15% of rate. Power options include 12 Vdc, 24 Vdc, or 110 Vac.
  • FPR130 (Pulse Output): Square-wave pulse output with amplitude equal to DC power input. Frequency range spans from 15 Hz at the lowest flow rate to 225 Hz at the highest flow rate of both ranges. Power requirement is 4.5 to 24 Vdc at a maximum of 70 mA.

Accessories and Options

  • Low Flow Adaptor: Included for some models (e.g., FPR111, FPR112) to enable the lower flow range; part numbers 152147 or 151832 depending on port size.
  • Pull-down Resistor: Required for specific pulse output configurations.

Key Product Differences

The FPR100 Series is differentiated by three primary model families based on functionality: the FPR110 series provides visual indication only; the FPR120 series adds an SPDT mechanical flow switch for alarm or control signaling; and the FPR130 series incorporates a square-wave pulse output compatible with ratemeters (such as DPF701) or data acquisition systems.

Material variations include Polypropylene bodies, which are lighter in weight (e.g., 340 g for FPR110), and Brass or Stainless Steel bodies, which offer higher pressure ratings at elevated temperatures but increased mass (e.g., 680 g to 907 g). The series supports both NPT and BSPP thread configurations; models with BSPP threads are identified by appending "-BSP" to the base model number. Additionally, specific pulse output models (FPR135, FPR136) offer extended flow ranges up to 8–60 GPM on larger port sizes.
