Supported Applications
The Omega TQ101 Series flange-mounted reaction torque sensors are designed for measuring reaction or restraining torques in motor mounts, pump mounts, and machine mounts. These rugged sensors maintain laboratory-level accuracy while suitable for factory environments. The series supports limited rotation applications such as turning a nut or actuator shaft.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The TQ101 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -65°F to 250°F (-53 to 120°C), with a compensated temperature range of 70°F to 170°F (0 to 76°C). Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±0.18% FS, linearity of ±0.10% FS, hysteresis of ±0.10% FS, and repeatability of ±0.10% FS. The sensors provide a rated output of 2 mV/V nominal with a bridge resistance of 350 Ω nominal.
Thermal effects are specified as Zero: ±0.002% FS/°F and Span: ±0.002% rdg/°F. The full-scale angular deflection is 1.2°. Load limits define a safe maximum load of 150% FS and an ultimate maximum load of 300% FS. Excitation requirements are 10 Vdc with a maximum of 20 Vdc.
Configuration Options
The series is available in fourteen measurement ranges from 0 to 10 in-lb up to 0 to 100,000 in-lb. Model numbers follow the format TQ101-, such as TQ101-10 or TQ101-100K.
Construction materials vary by capacity:
- Sensing element and cover (up to 500 in-lb): Aluminum for models up to 500 inch-lb, specifically noted for the 100, 200, and 500 in-lb ranges.
- Sensing element and cover (above 500 in-lb): Nickel-plated steel for all other ranges above 500 inch-lb.
The sensors feature flange mounting with a mating connector supplied. They are calibrated using a known load applied to an NIST traceable load cell through a known distance measured by an NIST traceable lever arm and come complete with an operator's manual and 5-point calibration documentation. The series is made in the USA.
Key Product Differences
Variants differ primarily by capacity range, which dictates physical dimensions and construction material. Dimensional parameters (C, D, F, G, H, N, J) scale with capacity; for example, dimension C ranges from 1.75 inches on the TQ101-10 to 8.50 inches on the TQ101-100K.
Specific compatible meters are listed per range in source documentation, including models such as DP41-S, DP302-S, DP2000-S4, DP2000-S5, DP3002-S, and DP87. The TQ101 sensor measures torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
