Supported Applications

The Omega CSF1 Series consists of ceramic insulated finned strip heaters designed for efficient heat dissipation in air heating applications. The series is utilized in duct heating, space heaters, drying ovens, food warmers, dehumidifiers, shrinking tunnels, and heat curing processes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CSF1 Series features a maximum sheath temperature of 650°C (1200°F). Electrical specifications support operation at 120V or 240V Vac, with a maximum voltage rating of 480 Vac when applicable and a maximum amperage of 25 A. Wattage tolerance is specified as 5%, -10%.

Maximum watt density ratings vary by air condition and temperature range:

  • Still Air – Up to 149°C (300°F): 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in²
  • Still Air – 149 to 316°C (300 to 600°F): 2.5 Watt/cm², 16 Watt/in²
  • Still Air – 316 to 427°C (600 to 800°F): 1.6 Watt/cm², 10 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 93°C (600'/minute, up to 200°F): 6.2 Watt/cm², 40 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 204°C (600'/minute, up to 400°F): 4.7 Watt/cm², 30 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 316°C (600'/minute, up to 600°F): 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in²

Configuration Options

The CSF1 Series is constructed with a helically wound resistance coil in a ceramic insulator housed within stainless steel rectangular tubing (sheath material: 304 stainless steel). Voids are filled with high-purity magnesium oxide for thermal conductivity and dielectric strength. Fins are nickel-plated steel, with stainless steel fins available as an option.

Physical dimensions include a width including fins of 51 mm (2") and a height including fins of 35 mm (1 3/8"). Length tolerances are ± 1/16" for lengths up to 0.61 m (24") and ± 1/8" for lengths over 0.61 m (24").

Termination options include:

  • Screw Terminals: Stainless steel 10-32 UNF threads (Type T1)
  • Type C – Terminal Box
  • Type P – High Temperature Quick Disconnect Plug

Mounting slot sizes are standard at 8 x 13 mm (5/16 x 1/2"). For secondary insulating bushings, the required slot size is 13 x 16 mm (1/2 x 5/8") for 300V and above.

Available accessories include Secondary Insulating Bushings (Model Number: CERR-1001) and Igloo™ Ceramic Covers (Types C6, C7, C8; Model Numbers: CER-101-104, CER-101-106, CER-101-107). A ceramic cap with 10-32 thread is available as Model Number CER-102-101.

Key Product Differences

The series offers multiple model configurations based on length and wattage, following the format CSF. Available lengths range from 266.7 mm (10½") to 1079.5 mm (42½"). Wattages vary by model, with examples including 500 W, 725 W, 900 W, up to 4150 W.

Model availability differs by voltage; certain longer heater models are listed only for 240V operation. For instance, the CSF00159 (603.3 mm / 23¾", 2200 W), CSF00165 (647.7 mm / 25½", 2400 W), and CSF00176 (774.7 mm / 30½", 2800 W) are designated for 240V only in the provided specification table.
