Supported Applications
The Omega OMDC-250 Series is a variable speed DC motor control designed for general-purpose applications. The series controls DC Permanent Magnet, Shunt Wound, and some Universal (AC/DC) motors rated up to 2 H.P.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The OMDC-250 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10°C (14°F) to 45°C (113°F). The control accepts AC input voltage at ±10% rated line voltage with a frequency of 50/60 Hz. Incoming AC voltage is converted to adjustable full-wave rectified DC output, available in ranges of 0-90 VDC or 0-180 VDC depending on the model configuration.
Performance features include transient voltage protection and an adjustable current limit. The control provides a linear acceleration/deceleration ramp with response times ranging from 0.5 to 8.0 seconds for acceleration. Additional standard capabilities include adjustable minimum and maximum speeds, IR Compensation, and tach feedback support.
Configuration Options
The series is offered in chassis mount or enclosed configurations. Enclosed models utilize a gasketed cover assembly with enclosure ratings of NEMA 4/12 or NEMA 4X (IP66). The control features a barrier type terminal strip for all power and control wiring.
Motor Ratings and Output
- Low Power Models: Operate motors in the H.P. range of 1/50 through 1/8 H.P. using different trimpot settings (251G family).
- Dual Voltage Models: Support motor ranges from 1/8 to 1 H.P. at 90 VDC, and 1/4 to 2 H.P. at 180 VDC using different trimpot settings (253G family).
- Output Currents: Configurations support output currents up to 10.8A DC.
Housing and Mounting Options
- Chassis Model: Overall length of 7.00" with a height clearance of 1.55".
- Enclosed Model: Dimensions are 184 H x 140 W x 70 mm D (7.25 x 5.53 x 2.75") for the NEMA enclosure, with a weight of 486 g (17.25 oz).
