Supported Applications
The Omega SV100 and SV200 Series solenoid valves are designed for industrial and laboratory applications involving liquids and gases. The series includes general-purpose 2, 3, and 4-way configurations made of brass or stainless steel, as well as specialty valves for hot water and steam applications.
Documented application areas include:
- Automation
- Humidifiers
- Water treatment
- Dispensing systems
- Laundry and dry cleaning equipment
- Machine tools
- Vending machines
Operating Conditions & Performance
The SV100-SV200 Series supports a broad range of media, including air or nontoxic nonflammable gases (Code A), acetylene (Code AC), common refrigerants except ammonia (Code F), city gas (Code G), gasoline (Code GA), petroleum-based hydraulic oils with viscosities from 125 to 400 SSU at 38°C (Code HO), liquid propane gas (Code LP), fuel oils Nos. 1 and 2 or up to No. 6 depending on viscosity, oxygen (Code OX), steam (Code S), and water or other aqueous nonflammable liquids (Code W).
Performance specifications vary by model family:
- Ambient Temperature: -9 to 50°C (15 to 122°F) for the SV120 Series; specific ranges include 15 to 150°F for 10 watt coils, 15 to 77°F for 22 watt coils, and 15 to 122°F for steam valves SV231-235.
- Response Time: 4 to 15 ms (SV121-SV127) and 30 to 60 ms (SV128).
- Pressure Ratings: Maximum static pressure is rated at 1.5 times the maximum psid with vacuum capability greater than 5 microns ABS for SV121-SV128 models.
No minimum pressure is required except for specific pilot-operated or direct-acting valves: Models 128, 203-207, 211-217, 283-287, and 291-295 require 5 PSID; SV271 requires 15 PSID; SV281-SV282 require 3 PSID; and SV261 requires 2 PSID.
Configuration Options
The series offers extensive configuration options across valve type, actuation method, materials, and port sizes. Available variants include:
- Valve Types & Actuation: Direct acting (SV121-127), pilot operated (SV106, SV128, SV203-207, SV222-225, SV232-235), direct lift (SV201, 202), and directional control configurations including 3-way normally closed (SV241-SV261) and 4-way pilot operated (SV271).
- Port Sizes: Available from 1/8" NPT to 2" NPT, with CV values up to 38.
- Housing & Materials: Stainless steel valve bodies are standard for the SV120 Series. Wetted materials include stainless steel, copper, and seals; additional materials such as polysulfone (SV128), FKM (SV201-SV202, SV281-SV282), ruby (SV211-SV212), Delrin (SV241-SV251), aluminum (SV271), and ethylene propylene rubber for hot water/steam valves are available depending on the model.
- Enclosure Rating: NEMA 4 (IP65) housing is specified for rugged environments.
- Power Supply: Standard coils operate at 10 W, 120 Vac, 50 to 60 Hz. Replacement coils are available in 110 Vac, 220 Vac, and 24 Vdc configurations (note: UL approval is not available with 24 Vdc coils).
Special service options include anti-water hammer valves (SV283-SV295) featuring adjustable closing times via a 4-position selector. SV128 must be mounted in an upright position, while other valves are designed to operate in any orientation.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between direct-acting and pilot-operated mechanisms based on flow requirements and pressure differentials:
- SV120 Series (Stainless Steel): Includes SV121-SV127 as direct-acting normally closed valves with orifice sizes ranging from ³⁄₆₄" to ¹⁄₄", and SV128 as a pilot-operated valve. These models feature KEL-F, FKM, or PTFE seals depending on the specific model number.
- SV200 Series (Brass & Stainless Steel): Encompasses direct lift (SV201-SV202), pilot operated (SV203-207, SV222-225, etc.), and directional control valves. Specific models like SV261 function as quick exhaust valves with sleeve pilot exhaust ports that cannot be blocked.
- Anti-Water Hammer Models: Valves SV283-SV295 allow adjustment of closing time from fast (Position 1) to slowest (Position 4). SV281 and SV282 are anti-water hammer valves without this adjustable feature.
Filtration recommendations vary by model: 100 microns or better is recommended for models 128, 203-207, and 211-217; 5 to 25 microns or better is recommended for SV241-SV261 and SV271. Hot water and steam valves contain ethylene propylene rubber parts and must not be exposed to petroleum-based lubricants.
