The Omega LC8100 and LC8125 Series are miniature, low-profile through-hole compression load cells designed for applications requiring a compact donut design. The series is documented as an economical solution for measuring clamping forces, bolt loading forces, and other compressive loads. With all stainless steel construction providing environmental protection, these units are noted for reliability in industrial applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LC8100 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F). Measurement capabilities span from 0-5 lb (0-2.3 kg) up to 0-500 lb (0-227 kg), depending on the selected model and capacity configuration. The series delivers a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V with an accuracy specification of ±1.0% linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability combined.
Electrical requirements include an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc (maximum 15 V) and a load resistance minimum of 360 Ω. Each unit is supplied with a 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded cable for electrical connection.
Configuration Options
The series offers two primary outer diameter configurations to accommodate different through-hole requirements:
- LC8100 Series: Features a 25 mm (1.00") OD with an overall height of 7.1 mm (0.28").
- LC8125 Series: Features a 32 mm (1.25") OD with the same 7.1 mm (0.28") profile.
Both series utilize selectable inside diameters (ID) to fit specific shaft or bolt sizes. The LC8100 supports IDs of 0.100", 0.125", 0.188", 0.200", and 0.250". The larger LC8125 model expands this range to include 0.312" and 0.375" IDs in addition to the smaller sizes.
Construction materials consist of all stainless steel, specifically identified as 17-4 PH stainless steel for wetted parts. The series carries NIST Standard certification and RoHS compliance. Units are supplied complete with a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration certificate and include 59 kΩ shunt data.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two model families is the outer diameter (OD) and the resulting range of compatible inside diameters. The LC8100 models are designated for a 1.00" OD, while LC8125 models provide a 1.25" OD.
Model numbers follow the format LC81XX-[ID CODE]-[CAPACITY]. For example, an LC8100-200-200 denotes a 200 lb capacity load cell with a 1.00" OD and 0.200" ID. Similarly, the LC8125-375-500 represents a 500 lb capacity unit with a 1.25" OD and 0.375" ID.
Capacity options vary by model series; the LC8100 ranges from 5 to 200 lb, whereas the LC8125 extends up to 500 lb. Metric configurations are available upon consultation with engineering.
