Supported Applications

The Omega DPM35 and DP35 series comprises miniature process indicators designed to display process signal inputs in engineering units. The DPM35A is a compact 1/8 DIN LED indicator, while the DP35 is a loop-powered LCD indicator available in both 1/8 DIN (48 mm) and 1/2 DIN (96 mm) configurations. These instruments are intended for monitoring voltage and current signals from process control systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series provides an accuracy of ±0.2% ±1 count at 25 °C, with a warm-up time to rated accuracy of 2 minutes. Operating temperature ranges differ by model: the DPM35A operates from -20 to +60 °C (-4 to 140 °F), while the DP35 operates from 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F). The instruments feature a dual-slope, average value A/D converter with automatic polarity indication. Reading rates are specified as 2.5/s for the DPM35A and 3/s for the DP35.

Power requirements are consistent across the series at 10 to 30 Vdc (isolated). Power consumption is listed as 0.6 W max. at 24 VDC for the DPM35A, while the loop-powered DP35 consumes 0.3 mA.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple input configurations selectable via jumpers or solder pads:

  • DPM35A Inputs: 0 to 200 Vdc, 0/4...20 mA (standard), and other ranges including 182 Ω impedance for current inputs.
  • DP35 Inputs: Jumper-selectable options include 1 to 5 mA, 4 to 20 mA, or 10 to 50 mA. Voltage input capability up to 0...2/10 Vdc and 0...10/200 Vdc is documented in the signal selection table.

Display options include a red LED with 7-segment, 3½ digit resolution (DPM35A) or an LCD display (DP35). Decimal point position is selectable via solder jumpers for configurations such as 1 XX . X, 1 X . XX, and 1 . XX X. Electrical connections utilize a screw-clamp connector compatible with DIN 43700 standards.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two primary model families based on display technology and physical dimensions:

  • DPM35A (1/8 DIN): Features a red LED display with 10 mm height. Overall dimensions are 48 mm W x 24 mm H x 70 mm D (1.89" x 0.94" x 2.76"). Panel cut-out is 45 mm W x 22.2 mm H.
  • DP35 (Loop-Powered): Features an LCD display with 12.7 mm height. The DP35 series includes a larger form factor variant measuring 96 mm W x 48 mm H x 117 mm D, requiring a panel cut-out of 92.5 mm W x 44.5 mm H.

Both models carry CE approval for European Directives on Electromagnetic Compatibility and Safety. The series includes specific safety prescriptions regarding installation in metal panels, ventilation requirements to avoid excessive heating, and the necessity of external mains switches with protection fuses due to the lack of an internal DC switch or fuse.
