Supported Applications

The Omega Series 88000/98000 Teflon Block Thermocouple Probes are designed for measuring surface temperature on moving or rotating surfaces. Documented applications include industries such as paper, fiber, printing, iron, and steel. These probes accommodate metal surfaces and plastic surfaces.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports a maximum surface temperature of 250°C (480°F). Probes are rated for Standard Limits of Error accuracy. A warning note specifies that these probes are not designed for long-term exposures to high temperatures.

Dimensions and Configuration Examples

  • Model 88001: 152.4 mm (6 in) overall length, 25.4 mm (1 in) diameter.
  • Model 88220: 159.5 mm (6 3/32 in) overall length, 32.5 mm (1 9/32 in) diameter.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options for calibration types, head configurations, and connector interfaces to suit specific measurement needs.

Calibration Types

  • K: CHROMEGA™-ALOMEGA™
  • E: CHROMEGA™-Constantan

Housing and Head Configurations

Probes are available in right-angle, swivel head, and standard configurations. Swivel heads are offered for models 98220, 98221, 98225, 98226, and 98227.

Connectors and Adaptors

All models include a molded SMP or SMPW subminiature male connector. Additional connection options are available via separate adaptors:

  • TAS-K-3 Adaptor
  • TAS-E-3 Adaptor
  • M8/M12 Connectors: Available in straight and right-angled configurations (e.g., M8-S-M, M12-S-M, M8-R-M).

Replacement Elements

Replacement elements are not included with the probe and must be ordered separately. Specific replacement part numbers include Model No. 88220(*)-RE through 88227(*)-RE.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard probes (Series 88000) and swivel head configurations (Series 98000). Model numbers follow the format 88220(*) - <MODEL> - <CALIBRATION> - <HEAD TYPE> - <ADAPTOR>. Examples include 88220K, 98220K with Swivel Head, and configurations such as 88220K-M8-S-M. Variants ending in "-IEC" indicate specific connector or regional adaptations within the series.
