Supported Applications
The Omega LD630 series consists of LVDT linear position sensors with current output, designed for displacement measurement in wet and corrosive conditions. These rugged transducers feature a stainless steel body and IP67 environmental rating to operate reliably in harsh environments.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LD630 series provides less than 0.2% linearity (FSO) across measurement ranges from 0 to 5 mm up to 0 to 300 mm. The operating temperature range is specified as 0 °C to +65 °C, with a storage temperature of -20 °C to +85 °C (-4 °F to +185 °F). Electrical excitation requires 10 to 30 Vdc.
Environmental durability includes IP67 sealing and mechanical robustness validated by drop testing from 1 m (3') onto a hard surface, as well as topple testing performed 10 times on each end. The series meets vibration ratings of 1 to 10 g rms linear amplitude at 10 to 50 Hz, and 10 g rms amplitude at 50 Hz to 1 kHz.
Configuration Options
The LD630 is configured as a displacement transmitter with specific travel lengths denoted in the model number (e.g., LD630-5, LD630-10). The series supports direct-acting output (4 to 20 mA) or reverse-acting output (20 to 4 mA), selectable by adding the "-R" suffix.
Key construction and connection features include:
- Housing Material: Stainless Steel
- Core Design: Guided core with removable spring, utilizing polymer guides with rigid carriers for frictionless operation
- Wetted Materials: Nickel-iron (core material)
- Process Connection: M6x1.06g full thread on a 32.00 mm (1.26 inch) stem length with an overall diameter of ø19.00 mm (0.75 inch)
- Electrical Connection: PFA cable, 2 m (6') long
- Dimensions: Body length "A" ranges from 94.0 to 450.9 mm (3.7 to 17.8 inch); fully extended dimension "B" ranges from 35.3 to 457.3 mm (1.4 to 18.0 inch)
Available accessories include the LD-TIP tip adaptor/ball tip and the LD-UJOINT-KIT for universal joint retro fit.
Key Product Differences
The primary variation within the series is defined by the measurement range, which determines the physical dimensions of the unit. Model numbers follow the format LD630-, where the suffix indicates the maximum travel in millimeters (e.g., LD630-5 for 0 to 5 mm; LD630-150 for 0 to 150 mm). A secondary variation is the output polarity: standard models provide a direct-acting signal increasing from 4 mA at zero displacement, while reverse-acting versions (suffixed with "-R") decrease from 20 mA.
