Supported Applications

The Omega HHG1394 is a hand-held Data Logging Three Axis Electromagnetic Field Tester and Gauss Meter designed to measure magnetic field radiation from power lines, home appliances, and industrial devices. The instrument utilizes three internal orthogonal sensors to test Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) magnetic fields independent of measurement angle.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HHG1394 operates within a bandwidth of 30Hz to 2000Hz, with an accuracy specification of ±(5%+3d) at 40Hz to 200HZ and -3dB response from 30Hz to 2000HZ. At standard power frequencies, the device achieves ±(3%+3d) at 50Hz or 60HZ. For low-level measurements in the 20mG/2μT range, accuracy is specified as ±(3%+30d). The instrument features a sampling time of approximately 0.5 second and displays readings on a triple LCD.

Operating conditions require an ambient temperature between 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F) with humidity below 80%RH. Storage is permitted from -10°C to 60°C at humidity levels below 70%RH. The device weighs approximately 165g and measures 154(L) x 72(W) x 35(H) mm.

Configuration Options

The series supports measurement in both milli Gauss (mG) and micro Tesla (μT) units across three selectable ranges:

  • Ranges: 20/200/2000 milli Gauss or 2/20/200 micro Tesla.
  • Resolution: 0.01/0.1/1 milli Gauss; 0.001/0.01/0.1 micro Tesla.

Data logging capabilities include a memory capacity for 2000 data sets, supporting both manual and continuous recording modes. Users can configure the logging interval from 1 to 255 seconds via the SET key sequence. The instrument includes Maximum (MAX) and Minimum (MIN) reading record functions and an auto power-off feature that activates after approximately 15 minutes.

Power is supplied by six pcs of 1.5V size AAA batteries, with a requirement to use only Alkaline Battery types for operation; battery life is approximately 100 hours. An AC adaptor input jack (DC 9V) and a USB PC optical interface connector are provided for external power and data transfer.

Key Product Differences

The HHG1394 model includes specific control keys to manage display modes, including the ability to step through triaxial total magnetic field readings or independent three single-axis (X, Y, Z) magnetic field readings. The unit features a G/T key for selecting milli-gauss or micro-tesla units and a Range key that allows cycling through manual ranges before returning to autorange mode by holding the key for 2 seconds.

Accessories included with the instrument are an operation manual, batteries, USB cable, and CD software containing detailed instructions for the USB interface and data analysis. The device holds U.S. Pat. No. Des. 446,135 and CE certification.
