Supported Applications
The Omega ELC Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Modules are reduced-sized controllers designed for small machine control stations and space-critical applications. The series provides a configurable architecture with expandable I/O ranging from 10 to 256 points, supporting digital logic, analog processing, thermocouple inputs, RTD sensing, and high-speed counting functions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The ELC family operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 131°F (0 to 55°C) with a humidity rating of 50 to 95% during operation. For transportation and storage, the units are rated for -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) at 5 to 95% humidity. The system is powered by 24 Vdc (with a tolerance of -15 to +20%) featuring DC input reverse polarity protection and consumes between 3 to 6 W.
Performance specifications include an approximate response time of 10 mS for digital inputs, with an adjustable range from 0 to 10,000 mS selectable via D1020 and D1021. The units meet IEC1131-2 standards for vibration and shock resistance (IEC 68-2-6 TEST Fc / IEC 68-2-27 TEST Ea). Electrical immunity ratings include 8 kV air discharge ESD, 2 kV power line EFT, and 10 V/m RS Immunity from 26 MHz to 1 GHz. Insulation resistance is rated at >5 MΩ @ 500 Vdc between all inputs/outputs and earth.
Approvals & Certifications

Configuration Options
The ELC series supports four primary controller styles: Basic (PB), Clock/Calendar (PC), Analog (PA), and High Speed (PH). Each style offers distinct I/O configurations including AC inputs, DC sink/source inputs, relay outputs, transistor outputs, and analog combinations. The system is DIN rail mountable without a rack requirement; modules snap-on and slide into place with automatic connections.
Communication & Network Protocols
The series supports high-level network access via MODBUS®, DeviceNet, Profibus DP, RS485, and RS232. Specialty communication modules include:
- ELC-CODNET: Expansion module for DeviceNet (Style 5)
- ELC-COPBDP: Expansion module for Profibus DP slave (Style 4)
- ELC-485APTR: RS485 Easy Connect
Analog & Sensor Modules
The series offers specialty modules for analog and temperature sensing applications, including:
- Analog I/O (ELC-AN02ANN, ELC-AN04ANN, ELC-AN06AANN): Supports 12-bit resolution outputs ranging from -20 mA to +20 mA and ±10V. Input configurations include up to 4 channels with resolutions of 14 bits for voltage and 11–13 bits for current.
- Thermocouple (ELC-TC04ANN): Supports types J, K, R, S, T across 4 inputs.
- RTD (ELC-PT04ANN): Supports PT100 sensors across 4 inputs with resolutions of 13–14 bits depending on voltage/current configuration.
Key Product Differences
The ELC series is differentiated by controller style and I/O point count. The Basic (PB) series includes models such as the ELC-PB14NDR (8 DC inputs, 6 Relay outputs) and ELC-PB14NNDT (8 DC inputs, 6 Transistor outputs). The Clock/Calendar (PC) series features units like the ELC-PC12NNAR with AC inputs or ELC-PC12NNDR with DC inputs. The Analog (PA) series provides mixed I/O, exemplified by the ELC-PA10AADR, which includes 4 analog inputs and outputs alongside digital channels.
The High Speed (PH) series is represented by models such as the ELC-PH12NNDT. Expansion capabilities are provided through Digital I/O modules ranging from 6 to 16 points, including high-current relay options (ELC-EX06NNNI, rated at 6 A) and switch input modules. Accessories include graphics panels (monochrome ELC-GP02 with 160x32 pixels or ELC-GP04 with 128x64 pixels), power supplies (ELC-PS01, 24 W; ELC-PS02, 48 W), and programming software (ELCSOFT).
