Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series MM Mini-Master® Flowmeters are variable area flowmeters designed for gas and liquid applications. The series includes two distinct product families: the MMA, a standard scale unit suitable for general service with high chemical resistance, and the MMF, a compact model ideal for measuring small volume air flows.

Documented media compatibility covers compatible gases and liquids, including specific scales calibrated for Air (SCFH/LPM) and Water (GPH/CC/Min./LPM). The transparent construction allows direct visual reading of flow rates via side-printed scale graduations against a white background.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series MM operates within specific temperature limits depending on the model family. Process and ambient temperatures must not exceed 130°F (54°C) for MMA models, while MMF models are rated to 125°F (51°C). Accuracy is specified as ±4% FS or ±10% FS across various ranges.

Pressure ratings vary by connection method and model:

  • MMA with compression fitting: 100 psi (6.9 bar)
  • MMA with tubing clamp: 50 psi (3.4 bar)
  • MMF standard rating: 50 psi (3.4 bar); Valve option reduces this to 10 psi (0.6 bar).

Precision molding enables high repeatability for consistent measurement performance.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options across two primary model families, each with distinct dimensional envelopes and mounting styles.

MMA Series (Standard Scale)

  • Housing: Constructed from transparent Nylon 12 for high chemical resistance; easily disassembled via a provided key for cleaning or reconfiguration.
  • Dimensions: MMA-X measures approximately 2-1/2" [63.50] x 1-3/8" [34.93] (typical); the low-volume variant MMA-X-LV is larger at 3-3/4" [95.25] height.
  • Valves: Available with or without non-removable top or bottom front-mounted metering valves (-LV suffix indicates no valve).
  • Float Materials: Options include Black glass, K monel, stainless steel, and tungsten carbide.

MMF Series (Compact Scale)

  • Housing: Constructed from Styrene acrylonitrile with a bezel-type mounting design for quick front-panel installation.
  • Dimensions: Compact body measuring 2-5/8" [66.68] x 7/8" [22.23] x 15/16" [23.98].
  • Valves: Configurable with bottom mount valve (-PV) or top mount valve (-TMV).
  • Float Materials: Options include SS, black glass, and nylon.

Connections & Accessories

  • MMA Connections: 5/16" OD for push-on rubber or plastic tubing with spring clamps; compatible with double compression fittings for rigid tubing. Optional unions include A-327 (5/16") and A-328 (1/4").
  • MMF Connections: 1/4" OD for push-on rubber or plastic tubing; connect to rigid tubing with compression fittings.
  • Certification Option: -NIST suffix adds a NIST traceable calibration certificate.

Key Product Differences

The Series MM is divided into the MMA and MMF families, distinguished by scale length, body material, and mounting configuration. The MMA series features a 2" (51 mm) scale with Nylon 12 construction and offers configurable valve options or no-valve (-LV) versions. The MMF series utilizes a smaller 1-1/2" (38 mm) scale with Styrene acrylonitrile bodies, designed specifically for compact panel mounting.

Model numbering reflects the specific flow range required; examples include MMA-X followed by a Range Number and optional valve suffix. The MMF series follows a similar pattern but includes distinct suffixes for top (-TMV) or bottom (-PV) mounted valves. Wetted materials differ between families, with MMA offering Buna-N O-rings (optional materials available) and specific float compositions like tungsten carbide, while MMF utilizes Polyurethane valve components.
