Supported Applications

The Omega CF Series comprises rugged spring-loaded bayonet and compression fitting thermocouples designed for measuring temperatures in plastic processing machinery. Documented applications include monitoring crosshead, die, and barrel zones on extruders and molding machines, as well as packaging equipment.

With the optional pipe clamp adaptor, the bayonet type configuration supports measuring pipewall and bearing temperatures. The series utilizes stainless steel armor cable to withstand industrial environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CF Series probes feature a 6.4 mm (¼") stainless flexible cable construction with an overall standard length of 1.5 m (60"). The maximum available armored cable length is 12 m (40'). Probes are equipped with a compression fitting type process connection featuring ¼ NPT.

Sensor Types and Termination Styles

The series supports thermocouple types J, K, T, and E. Cold end termination options include:
  • Style 1: Spade lugs (standard)
  • Style 2: Available as standard configuration
  • Style 3: Available upon special request

Configuration Options

The CF Series offers extensive configurability across probe geometry, sensor element count, and grounding options to accommodate specific installation requirements.

Probe Geometry and Dimensions

The series is available in two primary orientations:

  • Straight probes (CF-000)
  • 90° bend probes (CF-090)

Dimensional configurations are defined by "A" (insertion length) and "B" (cable length). Standard A dimensions include 100 mm (4"). Custom A and B lengths are available; for example, changing the model number suffix allows ordering of cable lengths over 1.5 m (60") or longer insertion depths.

Element Configuration

  • Dual element probes: Available as a special option with additional cost.
  • Ungrounded sensors: Achieved by adding the suffix "-UNGROUNDED" to the model number for an additional cost.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between straight and 90° bend configurations via the primary model prefix (CF-000 vs. CF-090). Termination styles are encoded in the model string, where Style 1 is standard for spade lugs, while Styles 2 and 3 require specific ordering or special request handling.

Extension cable assemblies are available as accessories with part numbers following the SEEX format (e.g., SEEX-□-48-1-1). These cables support single element configurations over a standard length of 1.2 m (48"). Dual element extension cables require changing "SEEX" to "DEEX" in the ordering code.

Model numbers follow the format: CF-<Type>-<Cold End Termination>-<A Dimension>-<B Dimension>. For example, a Type J probe with Style 2 termination and specific dimensions is designated as CF-090-J-2-60-1 for the 90° bend variant.
