Supported Applications
The Omega SGT series consists of transducer quality biaxial, 90° T-Rosette strain gauges featuring two separate gages on a single carrier. The gage grids are perpendicular and electrically independent. These rosettes are used in transducer design for axial strain applications or wired separately to measure strain in the X and Y directions.
Also available within this series are 0/90° TEE planar rosette patterns configured as a half-bridge with a common lead/solder pad, typically utilized in transducer design for axial strain applications. Each carrier piece contains two strain gages with perpendicular grids.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports nominal resistance values of 175 Ω, 350 Ω, and 1000 Ω as defined by the specific model selection. Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage (Vrms) varies across models based on size, termination type, and temperature compensation material.
- Maximum Vrms ranges from 3 Vrms to 25 Vrms depending on the configuration.
- Temperature compensation is offered for Steel (ST) or Aluminum (AL).
Packages are supplied in quantities of five per model number. Specific grid and carrier dimensions vary by size code, with overall lengths ranging from approximately 4.9 mm to 13 mm.
Configuration Options
The SGT series is configurable across multiple parameters including gage pattern size, resistance value, termination style, and temperature compensation material. The model number guide follows the format: SGT----.
Gage Patterns & Sizes
The series includes various planar rosette patterns identified by size codes such as 1, 2, 2H, 3, 3BH, 3H, 3L, and 4. Grid dimensions (A and B) and carrier dimensions (C and D) correspond to these sizes.
Termination Options
Two electrical connection methods are available:
- Ribbon Leads
- Solder Pads
Resistance & Compensation
Selectable nominal resistances include 175 Ω, 350 Ω, and 1000 Ω. Temperature compensation options are designated as ST for Steel or AL for Aluminum.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the SGT series differ primarily by physical dimensions (size code), nominal resistance, termination type, and temperature compensation material. Model numbers reflect these distinctions; for example, SGT-3/350-XY11 denotes a size 3 gage with 350 Ω resistance, ribbon leads, and steel compensation.
The series includes standard T-Rosette patterns as well as half-bridge configurations (indicated by 'H' in the model number such as SGT-2H or SGT-3H) which feature a common lead/solder pad. Specific maximum voltage ratings are tied to these combinations; for instance, models with Aluminum compensation generally support higher Vrms than their Steel-compensated counterparts of similar size.

What Bonding material does Omega have for room temperature quick curing similar to MBond 200? Does Omega have a clear coating to protect the gauge from moisture?
Hello, we only carry Loctite 496 cold cure adhesives, the model number is SG496. These are good for steady static loads. We do not have a clear coating to protect the gauges.
