Supported Applications

The Omega SGT Contraflexure, Full Bridge Strain Gauges series provides transducer quality strain gages with a full Wheatstone bridge configuration. These sensors are designed for reversed-bending beam or contraflexure beam applications where all four grids align in the same direction. The series is suitable for building custom transducers, particularly for beams featuring a contraflexure point where bending occurs in opposite directions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SGT series supports nominal resistance values of 350 Ω and 1000 Ω. Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage (Vrms) varies by model, ranging from 7.5 Vrms to 17 Vrms depending on the specific pattern and termination selected. The gages are engineered for use with spring elements made of stainless steel or aluminum.

Installation allows for zero temperature compensation resistors and zero balance compensation resistors to be added in open corners of the bridge. Units can be powered and calibrated using a known applied load.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions, terminations, and material compatibility options tailored to specific beam geometries and installation requirements.

  • Gage Patterns: Available in three primary pattern sizes with varying grid lengths: 13.8 mm (0.543 inch), 15.9 mm (0.626 inch), and 28.0 mm (1.102 inch).
  • Nominal Resistance: Options include 350 Ω or 1000 Ω.
  • Termination Types: Models are offered with Ribbon Leads or Solder Pads for electrical connection.
  • Material Compatibility (TEMP COMP): Configurations support Steel (ST) and Aluminum (AL).
  • Packaging: Sold in packages of 5 full bridge patterns per model number.

The series supports the addition of zero temperature compensation resistors, zero balance compensation resistors, and extra bondable terminal pads as options or accessories.
