Supported Applications
The Omega HANI™ Clamp Sensor series provides non-invasive temperature measurement for fluid inside sanitary metal pipes. Designed specifically for water and water-based fluids, the sensor utilizes hybrid temperature sensing technology to measure process conditions without penetrating the pipe wall or requiring system shutdowns.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HANI™ series operates within a process temperature range of -20 °C (-4 °F) to 100 °C (212 °F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.5 °C when fluid is flowing, with response times of 5 seconds (t63) and 10 seconds (t90). The device requires an ambient operating temperature between 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F).
Power requirements are met via a loop-powered supply from 8 VDC - 28 VDC. The maximum loop resistance is calculated as Rmax (Ω) = (Vsupply - 8V) / 0.24 A. When mated, the sensor achieves an IP67 environmental rating.
Configuration Options
The series supports sanitary metal pipe diameters of 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", and 4" (other sizes available upon request). The housing materials include PA12, silicone rubber, nickel-plated brass, and stainless steel.
Outputs and Connectivity
- Analog Output: 4 to 20 mA loop powered analog output with user-scalable range.
- Electrical Connection: M12 8-Pin Connector supporting Omega Link Smart Core features, including data logging and device detection.
Smart Interfaces and Accessories
The sensor is compatible with various Omega Link interfaces to enable wireless or wired communication protocols:
- IF-001: USB Smart Interface
- IF-002: RS485/Modbus Smart Interface
- IF-006-1-NA: Wireless Interface 915 MHZ (for North America)
- IF-006-1-EU: Wireless Interface 868 MHZ (for Europe)
Cabling and connection accessories include the M12.8-T-SPLIT shielded T-splitter, field install connectors with screw terminals, and dual M12-8 connector cables in lengths of 1 m (3.3 "), 3 m (9.8 "), or 5 m (16.4 ") available as straight or right-angle terminators.
Key Product Differences
The series offers standard models and calibration-certified variants for each pipe size:
- Standard Models: HANI-C-<PIPE SIZE>-M-MA (e.g., HANI-C-1.5S-M-MA).
- Calibration Option (-CAL-3): Includes a 3-point calibration at 10 °C, 50 °C, and 90 °C.
A user-selected number of temperature points (CAL-4 option) is available upon request. Other pipe diameters and non-water-based process mediums may be accommodated; contact the manufacturer for specific application details.
