Supported Applications
The Omega CN700 Series is a thermocouple limit controller designed for ON/OFF control applications requiring audible alarm status. The unit provides high or low limit functionality with an internal audible buzzer and a robust relay output. It supports automatic or manual reset configurations, allowing the user to select between these modes along with other programmable parameters.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CN700 Series accepts Type J, K, or S thermocouple inputs. Measurement ranges are defined by sensor type: 32 to 999°F (0 to 700°C) for Type J and 32 to 999°F (0 to 999°C) for Type K or S. The controller features a resolution of 1° with an accuracy of ±1% FS. A bright red 3-digit LED display updates at selectable rates down to 1 second.
Operating ambient temperature is specified as 0 to 65°C (32 to 150°F), and storage temperature ranges from -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F). The front panel carries an IP64 rating. Power consumption is listed at 4 VA.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable power supply options, display units, and reset capabilities tailored to specific installation needs:
- Power Supply: Models are available for 115 VAC, 230 VAC, 12 VAC/VDC, or 24 VAC/VDC depending on the model number.
- Display Units: Configurable to display temperature in °F or °C.
- Output Signal: SPDT relay rated at 16 A @ 250 Vac resistive (also noted as 1 HP).
- Reset Options: Features a built-in front panel reset button and supports external remote reset functionality.
- Housing Dimensions: Overall dimensions are 75 mm x 34 mm x 69 mm (2.95 in x 1.34 in x 2.72 in) with a weight of 65 g (2.3 oz).
The controller includes nonvolatile memory backup and supports parameter programming for setpoints, hysteresis (differential), probe adjustment, and response rates.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the CN700 Series are distinguished by their power supply voltage and temperature unit selection:
- CN701 / CN703: 115 VAC or 230 VAC models with °F display.
- CN702 / CN704: 115 VAC or 230 VAC models with °C display.
- CN705 / CN706: 12 Vac/Vdc models available in °F (CN705) and °C (CN706).
- CN707 / CN708: 24 Vac/Vdc models available in °F (CN707) and °C (CN708).
An optional field-installable accessory, the CNQUENCHARC noise suppression RC snubber (110 to 230 Vac), is available for relay output protection. The series holds CE, cUL US, and FM APPROVED certifications.

It really works!
I purchased a couple of these to keep a piece of equipment from overheating. They worked as expected and are keeping the machine safe and the users informed as to the status.
