Supported Applications
The Omega ME-Series Miniature Embedment RTD Sensors are designed for real-time monitoring of metal temperature. These sensors provide data critical for early warning of lubrication breakdown to prevent bearing failure and support maintenance scheduling. Built for rough handling and harsh environments, the series is installed in drilled holes for process sensing.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The ME-Series operates within a temperature range of -50 to 260°C (-58 to 500°F). Accuracy varies by element type: ±0.12% at 0°C for PD and PF elements; ±0.36% at 0°C for PE and PA elements; ±0.2% at 25°C for the CA element; and ±0.5% at 0°C for the NA element. Response times range from 3.0 seconds (case style A) to 1.5 seconds (case style D), representing typical values in moving water. Insulation resistance is specified as a minimum of 10 megohms at 100 VDC, measured between leads and case.
Configuration Options
The series offers four distinct case styles with varying diameters to accommodate different installation constraints:
- Case Style A: 0.275" (7.0 mm) diameter, available in single or dual probe elements.
- Case Style B: 0.188" (4.8 mm) diameter with a 0.250" (6.4 mm) flange; supports babbitt tip options and AC spring/ring accessories.
- Case Style C: 0.125" (3.2 mm) diameter, available in single or dual probe elements.
- Case Style D: 0.080" (2.0 mm) diameter; constructed of Stainless steel for the ME-D-S model.
Sensor element options include Platinum (PD, PF, PE, PA), Copper (CA), and Nickel (NA). Electrical connections utilize stranded copper lead wire with PFA insulation as standard, though other insulations are available including PFA with Stainless Steel Overbraid, PFA with Stainless Steel Overbraid and FEP, or PFA with FEP. Configurations support 2, 3, or 4 wires with standard lead lengths of 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 120, or 144 inches.
Key Product Differences
Variants differ primarily by case style diameter and element availability. Case Style A (ME-A-S, ME-A-D) supports all listed elements in both single and dual configurations. Case Style B (ME-B-S, ME-B-D) excludes the CA element for dual probe models but includes specific babbitt tip options: AC1, AC2, and AC3 are available only on case style B. These accessories include the AC171 spring paired with either an AC172 series ring, AC1038 ring, or AC915-1 ring.
Case Style C (ME-C-S, ME-C-D) excludes CA and NA elements for dual probe models. Case Style D (ME-D-S) is a single-element configuration that also excludes CA and NA elements and features a Stainless steel case material rather than the standard Tin plated copper alloy found in other styles.
