Supported Applications
The Omega RDA Series is a value-priced paperless recorder that integrates measurement, display, alarm generation, and data logging into a single slim instrument. Designed for industrial environments requiring multi-channel recording with touch screen control, the series supports applications involving thermocouple or RTD inputs without an external HMI.
Key functional capabilities include:
- Real-time trend records displayed via trend graph or bar graph
- History and alarm record review within the logger using 150MB of internal storage
- Data export to an external USB drive
Operating Conditions & Performance
The RDA Series operates in ambient temperatures from -10~+60°C (+14 ~ +140°F) with a humidity rating of 90%RH. Storage temperature ranges are specified as -20 ~ +80°C (-4 ~ +176°F). The instrument utilizes natural air cooling and consumes ≤5W power.
Performance specifications vary by input type:
- Accuracy (RTD): 0.2%FS ±1 digit for Pt100; 0.3%FS ±1 digit only for Cu50.
- Accuracy (Thermocouple): 0.2% FS ±1 digit with internal cold junction compensation (CJC). An additional 1°C CJC error must be considered. For Type B thermocouples, the stated accuracy is guaranteed only between 600~1800°C (+1112 ~ +3272°F).
- Response Time: ≤1.5 seconds (digital filter parameter dL set as 0 or 1).
The series meets Electromagnetic Compatibility standards including IEC61000-4-4 (Electrical Fast Transient) and IEC61000-4-5 (Electrical Surge). Isolation withstanding voltage is rated at 2300VDC among power, relay contact or signal terminals, and 600V among isolated electroweak terminals.
Configuration Options
The RDA Series offers configurable input channel counts ranging from 2 to 6 channels depending on the model. All models feature a TFT True Color display with an 800*480 resolution, long-life LED backlighting, and a four-wire resistive touch screen interface.
Input Configurations
- RDA-520 Models: Support two inputs. RTD versions accept 2-wire Pt100 or Cu50 (including 0-80ohm, 0-400ohm); TC versions support K, S, R, E, J, T, B, N, WRe5-WRe26 thermocouples.
- RDA-740 Models: Support four inputs with the same RTD and Thermocouple types as above. Every two inputs share one common port on RTD models.
- RDA-760 Models: Support six inputs with the same RTD and Thermocouple types as above. Every two inputs share one common port on RTD models.
Measuring Ranges
The series supports specific ranges per sensor type, including Pt100 (-200 ~ +800°C), Cu50 (-50 ~ +150°C), and various thermocouple types such as K (-50 ~ +1300°C) and WRe5~WRe26 (0 ~ +2300°C). Each channel supports independent input specifications with square-root, multiplication, addition, and subtraction functions.
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two physical form factors based on display size and installation depth:
- RDA-520 (5-inch models): External dimensions are 145 x 105 x 100mm (Width*Height*Depth) with an installation opening of 135 x 96 x 96mm. Unit weight is 1.21 lbs (0.55kg).
- RDA-740 and RDA-760 (7-inch models): External dimensions are 203 x 155 x 40mm (Width*Height*Depth) with an installation opening of 192 x 139 x 34mm. The slim 40mm depth allows installation in machinery or equipment with limited space. Unit weight is 1.54 lbs (0.7kg).
Power supply requirements are consistent across the series at 100~240VAC, -15%, +10% / 50~60Hz.

Hello, I would like to know what happens when the memory of the chart recorder reaches the maximum (150 MB): does it stop recording or do it overwrite on historical data? If it overwrites, does it do it starting from the oldest data? Thanks
Hi Lale
Thank you for the inquiry. When memory is full the newest data will over write the oldest data.
Best regards

Does cold junction compensation require an external thermal resistor?
Hi Jimbo1831,
Thankyou for the inquiry. The cold junction compensation sensor is built in the RDA unit.

Why does advanced function not allow me to enter 128 to create equation output? I can put in any number up to 128, but not the value required.
Hi Engineer6543,
Thank you for the inquiry. Please forward this question to TEMP@OMEGA.COM.

How long does the internal memory last if recording 24hr a day?
Hi Steve,
The number of channels and the logging interval will impact the active logging period available. For 2 channels at 10 second interval you would have several months capacity.

Is there a way to take a screenshot of the temperature plots?
Hi Rlied
Thank you for the inquiry. There is no screen capture function or video output feature unfortunately.

My logger does not "store" any data. The History and the DataList tabs only start taking data once I go into that screen. If I exit back out to the Panel screen, any previous data is lost.
Hi TimRMC,
Thankyou for the inquiry. Please forward this question to TEMP@OMEGA.COM.

Does the unit come with a power supply?
Thank you for your inquiry. This unit does not come a power supply. This unit requires 100 to 240 Volts AC Signal to be hard wired to it.

Can I use the "Sc" button to apply an offset to the thermocouples connected to the chart recorder? If so, does the "Sc" value correspond to the offset I want to apply? I have a RDA-760-TC
Hi Darvida,
Thank you for the inquiry. Sc is a display offset to correct for probe errors. But value for each count is 0.1 on the display count.
Best regards
