Supported Applications
The Omega CL514-PLUS is an automated universal RTD calibrator designed for checking, calibrating, and measuring Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensors. The device functions as both a simulator and a measurement instrument, outputting simulated RTD signals while simultaneously reading sensor values in °C or °F.
Documented compatibility includes integration with smart transmitters, PLCs, DCS systems, and multichannel recorders for field verification tasks.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CL514-PLUS supports 2, 3, or 4 wire electrical connections. Measurement capabilities cover multiple RTD types including Platinum 100 (alpha = 3850, 3926, 3902, 3750), Copper 10 & 50 Ohm, and Nickel 100 & 120 Ohm. The display resolution is specified as 0.1° (or 0.01/0.1 ohm).
Power is supplied by four 'AA' 1.5V alkaline batteries. A low battery condition is indicated by a 'BAT' symbol on the display, and approximately one to four hours of typical operation remain before the unit automatically turns off.
Configuration Options
The series features an adjustable digital potentiometer ('DIAL') for precise output control. The enclosure includes a rugged rubber boot for protection and a backlit display intended for use in dark areas.
- Auto-Stepping: Supports automatic output stepping with selectable step sizes of 2, 3, 5, 11, or 21 steps. Step times are configurable at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 60 seconds.
- Configuration Menu: Includes settings for EXIT (default 15), TEMP UNITS (°C/°F selection), RTD type (e.g., Pt 100 α=3850), BACKLIGHT control, STEPS count, STEP TIME duration, and AUTO OFF status.
- Data Retention: Removing the batteries resets values to factory defaults.
